A Day in the Life

We are seeking a highly motivated Packaging Engineer with at least 3 years of experience in the medical device industry to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong foundation in Packaging equipment qualifications, statistical analysis using MINITAB, Design of Experiments (DOE), sterile packaging and qualification of packaging equipment. You’ll play a critical role in optimizing manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving continuous improvement across production lines.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead and execute process validation activities and author technical documentation (protocols, reports, risk assessments)

  • Lead and execute process and equipment validation protocols (SQ/IQ/OQ/PQ) in compliance with FDA, ISO 13485 and ISO 11607 standards

  • Supports in-service operating systems to ensure continued operation and maintenance and optimization throughout.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, R&D, and Operations to resolve manufacturing issues

  • Determines, selects and implements technically feasible and economically viable alternatives for sustainment.

  • Analyses and evaluates how to improve a system and/or equipment's sustainability under continued operation, maintenance and unexpected change.

  • Develops process controls to prevent operational issues, introduces new materials and revises product, process and specifications to enhance product quality, reliability and manufacturability.

  • Maintain and improve process control plans, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Provide technical support for non-conformance investigations, CAPAs, and change control processes

  • Participate in internal and external audits as a subject matter expert for manufacturing processes

  • Collects and evaluates service use and maintenance data; conducts root-cause analyses of in-service problems (e.g., operational hazards, parts obsolescence, reliability and maintainability trends, safety hazards, and failure causes and effects) and implements corrective action.

TECHNICAL SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies – from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires a Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR PhD with 0 years relevant experience.
