The Japan and Asia Pacific (JAPAC) Tax Senior Analyst will work closely with the Senior Tax Manager – JAPAC and be responsible for the management of all tax compliance obligations, tax reporting, tax audit and use of technology in such work for all Palo Alto Networks companies in the JAPAC region. The role also provides the opportunity to expand into wider areas of tax including risk management, strategic planning, policy, and project work.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with external consultants for the annual tax filing and compliance process for all JAPAC entities to ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns.
- Engage with the in-house transfer pricing team to ensure local transfer pricing compliances and reporting obligations (including CBC notifications) are met timely for all JAPAC entities.
- Work with external consultants to prepare WHT workings and file WHT returns.
- Ensure payment of corporate tax payments for all JAPAC entities as per the timelines to comply with the statutory rules.
- Maintain status of each year tax filing and payment for all JAPAC entities.
- Calculation of advance corporate tax payments for relevant JAPAC entities (such as India, China, Korea, Thailand, Japan).
- Support Finance with direct taxes matters in the Statutory audit process.
- Work effectively with the Corporate Tax and Transfer Pricing teams currently based in the US and India.
- Liaise with tax consultants and Finance team with queries on tax filings.
- Review notices/letters from tax authorities and assist in preparation of responses.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of automated tools to drive efficiency/process improvements.
- Writing technical and non-technical tax research and compliance memos.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant with a minimum of 6 years of corporate tax experience in an accounting firm or large multinational group.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate income tax, tax accounting and basic understanding of transfer pricing.
- Proficient in Excel and experience working through large data sets.
- Proven level of accuracy and willingness to roll up sleeves for processes and numbers details.
- Organized, self-motivated and cooperative attitude.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills and able to work with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Alteryx and demonstrated history of exploring AI tools for efficiency is an advantage.
- Experience of international tax would be beneficial.
