ApplyWe are looking for a talented Facilities Technician – Level I First Shift - to join our team specializing in Facilities for our Cummins Inc. facility in Mineral Point, WI, US.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Ensure Operational Safety: By proactively identifying and addressing safety concerns during reactive and planned maintenance, you'll help create a safer environment for everyone in the facility.
- Support Facility Reliability: Your routine maintenance and timely repairs will reduce equipment downtime, keeping operations running smoothly and efficiently.
- Enhance Workplace Comfort: Through tasks like plumbing fixes, lighting installations, and wall repairs, you'll directly improve the physical workspace for employees and visitors.
- Maintain Clean and Functional Spaces: Your work in housekeeping, spill cleanup, and exterior upkeep ensures the facility remains clean, professional, and hazard-free.
- Optimize Maintenance Workflow: By using software to track and prioritize tasks, you'll help streamline maintenance operations and improve response times.
- Preserve Equipment and Inventory: Managing tools, vehicles, and spare parts ensures resources are available and in good condition, reducing waste and delays.
- Adapt to Challenging Conditions: Your ability to work in extreme environments (heat, cold, moisture) demonstrates resilience and ensures critical tasks are completed regardless of conditions.
- Contribute to Team Efficiency: Operating vehicles and powered tools, and assisting across various maintenance activities, makes you a versatile team member who supports broader facility goals.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Facilities Maintenance Knowledge: Understand how to assess and maintain building systems, structures, and grounds. Be familiar with asset management systems and preventative maintenance strategies.
- HVAC & Electrical Technical Skills: Be able to troubleshoot, repair, and install HVAC systems and electrical components to ensure proper facility operations.
- Facilities Operations Awareness: Know how to manage occupant services (e.g., janitorial, lighting, temperature control) and support operational planning for equipment and utilities.
- Action Oriented: Approach tasks with urgency, energy, and enthusiasm—especially when facing tough challenges or new opportunities.
- Customer Focus: Build strong relationships with internal customers (employees, departments) and deliver solutions that meet their needs effectively.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

- Custodians: Local Responsibilities:
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of lunchroom and equipment
- Inventory, order and storage of janitorial supplies
- Clean and upkeep plant restrooms, offices and all areas
- Clean and upkeep of locker room and display areas
- Maintain and upkeep plant floors, recyclables and trash
- Operation of powered scrubber and sweeper
- Maintain and upkeep of facility grounds
- Winter duties - snow shoveling, salting, etc.
- General cleaning, painting, misc. equipment maintenance
- Perform other duties as directed by the Facilities Manager
