The Principal Enterprise Architect provides essential architectural oversight, visionary leadership, and strategic guidance across a Cross-Domain context. In this highly impactful role, you will maintain the vision, roadmap, and current landscape for cross-domain initiatives while defining target architectures that align seamlessly with overall Enterprise strategy, Ix Technology, and business objectives. Acting as a recognized leader within the architecture community, you will lead architecture governance to drive cross-domain alignment, assess and drive the adoption of external technology trends, and proactively identify opportunities to reuse, consolidate, and optimize the enterprise technology landscape.

Description of the area

DIA Customer Service team is a strategic global function within Roche Digital Technology (RDT) and is at the heart of our Diagnostics digital landscape. We are responsible for developing, globally rolling out, and continuously evolving technology solutions that enhance the experience of healthcare providers and patients. Serving as a link between global business units - such as RDS, RIS, and Global Customer Experience - and their operational goals, we design the digital architecture that enables Roche to scale its impact across APAC, EMEA/LATAM, and NAM.

The Opportunity:

  • Scope / (Content Leadership): Conducts impact assessments for cross-domain (xDomain) initiatives. Leads architecture governance to drive alignment across domains. Assesses and drives the adoption of external technology trends, identifying opportunities to reuse, consolidate, and optimize. Recognized as a leader of the architecture community.

  • Accountability/Problem Solving: Guides others in resolving highly complex issues and problems with implications on cross-functional organizational processes and outcomes. Defines and manages architecture, governance, and technology aligned with stakeholder needs. Defines target architectures across Domains, oversees architecture governance (covering Information, Technology, Business, & Application Architecture), and actively manages technical debt by monitoring application and technology lifecycles across Domains.

  • Stakeholder Management: Communicates complex ideas and influences senior-level stakeholders to adopt new approaches. Deeply connects with and understands business needs, closely partnering with stakeholders. Introduces new concepts and ideas and successfully gathers support for them.

  • Impact/Strategy: Maintains the vision and roadmap for selected cross-Domain initiatives. Defines target architecture aligned with Ix Technology Strategies, identifies opportunities, and proposes initiatives advancing Ix/xDomain goals. Defines and rolls out the PACE Layering classification framework, conducts value stream mapping, and provides critical architectural insights for the ILT and Domain & Chapter leads.

  • Complexity / (Product Size): Operates comprehensively within a Cross Domain context.

  • Business / Technical ability: Applies excellent knowledge in two or more domain areas and/or technology areas. Leverages hands-on experience in these areas to lead technical discussions and capabilities assessments.

Who you are:

Education / Experience

  • Demonstrated experience providing architectural oversight and strategic guidance within a Cross-Domain context.

  • Experience guiding others in resolving highly complex cross-functional issues and defining architecture and governance aligned with enterprise stakeholder needs.

  • Proven track record acting as a recognized leader in the architecture community, defining target architectures aligned with business objectives and Ix Technology Strategies.

Technical Skills

  • Excellent knowledge and practical experience in two or more domain areas and/or technology areas, including business processes, data handled, interfaces, and respective technology.

  • Proficiency in overseeing and governing Information, Technology, Business, and Application Architecture across multiple domains.

  • Strong capability to define and roll out the PACE Layering classification framework, conduct value stream mapping, and execute classification mapping (maturity, functional & technical fit).

  • Expertise in driving vendor technology assessments, evaluating external technology trends across domains, and actively managing technical debt.

Additional Qualifications

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas, influence senior-level stakeholders, and gather support for new concepts.

  • Strategic foresight to identify opportunities and propose initiatives that advance cross-domain goals and optimize the overarching application landscape.
