The opportunity
As a Digital Design Capability Architect/Lead, you will play a key role in establishing and evolving Hitachi Energy's Digital Design Capability across engineering domains including CAD, Electronic Design, BIM, and related engineering tools. The role focuses on creating an integrated engineering ecosystem enabled by a strong digital thread connecting design tools, PLM platforms, engineering data, and downstream business processes.
You will work closely with engineering teams, architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to define standards, improve engineering processes, establish reusable design frameworks, and drive adoption of modern digital engineering practices. You will help enable configurable and customizable product development while improving data quality, reuse, traceability, and collaboration across the product lifecycle.
How You´ll Make an Impact
- Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of Digital Design capabilities across CAD, Electronic Design, BIM, and other engineering applications.
- Define, maintain, and promote engineering standards, templates, reusable libraries, and best practices that support scalable product development.
- Support the development of an integrated digital thread by improving data flow and interoperability between CAD systems, PLM platforms, and other enterprise applications.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and IT teams to improve engineering efficiency, increase design reuse, and reduce rework.
- Participate in defining solution architectures, governance models, support structures, and capability roadmaps for engineering digitalization initiatives.
- Contribute to pilot programs, proof-of-concepts, and global deployment activities that demonstrate business value and support long-term capability growth.
- Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders by providing expertise in engineering processes, digital design tools, product structures, configuration management, and lifecycle management.
- Support training, change management, and adoption activities to ensure successful implementation of new ways of working.
Your Background
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Experience working with engineering applications such as CAD, PLM, Electronic Design, BIM, simulation, or related digital engineering platforms.
- Good understanding of product development processes, engineering data management, configuration management, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Experience with engineering integrations and digital thread concepts connecting design, engineering, manufacturing, and enterprise systems.
- Knowledge of PLM solutions such as Teamcenter or similar product lifecycle management platforms is highly desirable.
- Great analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into practical and scalable solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across global and cross-functional teams.
- Experience working in Agile, DevOps, or continuous improvement environments is considered an advantage.
- A passion for improving engineering efficiency through standardization, automation, innovation, and digitalization.
