Associate Director, AI - Data Tooling & Automation (Halifax)

What is the opportunity?
This position offers an exciting opportunity with the CM Technology (QTS) Data and Architecture Strategy team, to drive strategic objectives for RBC Capital Markets by shaping and strengthening the data lifecycle.
The Associate Director, Data Lifecycle Automation will support the identification and automation of data transfer controls, lineage, data modeling, DQ, mapping and other data tooling in CM QTS, and leverage AI-enhanced automation to modernize data governance at scale. This role combines deep data expertise with emerging technologies to work alongside leaders across Capital Markets and Enterprise.
What will you do?
- Design and implement AI-driven automation solutions to enhance controls, lineage, DQ, data modeling, dictionary testing, documentation, and anomaly detection using modern frameworks and tools
- Work closely with CM data governance, data quality controls, and Chief Data Office teams to embed AI capabilities into the controls framework
- Collaborate with CM stakeholders, QTS application teams, Risk, and Finance teams to ensure adherence to data governance policies while exploring how AI and intelligent automation can unlock new insights and efficiencies
- Lead the evaluation and adoption of agentic AI systems, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) models, and related technologies to automate repetitive tasks and enhance decision-making
- Develop and prototype AI solutions using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) to streamline controls workflows
- Work alongside Business/Technology Owners and Data Stewards to ensure initiatives deliver against business outcomes and enable value creation
- Cultivate and manage relationships with application teams, stakeholders across CM and Enterprise, and technology partners to ensure alignment and success
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment with stringent deadlines during peak periods
- Work with flexibility to enable collaboration across global teams in North America, EMEA, and APAC
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have:
7+ years of related experience leading in execution, delivery
Knowledge of Data lifecycle and hands on with app development and AI tooling
3+ years with leading banks and organizations on data governance, controls framework and strong awareness of tech architecture
Demonstrated ability to communicate with senior management across IT and business
Ability to learn & adapt in a dynamic environment
Nice to Have:
Strong problem-solving capabilities; Strong structured, analytical, and methodological thinking
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Collaborative and organized; demonstrated ability to multi-task across competing priorities
Proficiency with Tableau, MS Office (MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) & Visio
