Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for routine tax audits, drafting/ vetting of tax submissions and appearances before tax authorities.
Attending personal hearings before the tax authorities, courts etc. which includes onsite visit to tax offices in different cities/ states, on need basis.
Preparation/ reviewing of data for submission before the authorities.
Tax risk/ exposures/ provisions reporting process – timely update on audit outcomes to the stakeholders and inputs to financial reporting team.
Provide inputs to compliance team basis tax authorities observations to improve upon the compliance processes and documentations.
Perform research and support for tax audits, prepare supporting memos, responses, objections, and related documentation supporting financial statement and tax return positions; manage tax audits allocated by the Tax Controversy group.
Tracking the deadlines of submissions, appeal hearings etc. and timely monitoring and updating of trackers
Collaborate with other functional tax groups and with other corporate functions to provide an integrated approach to support business needs
Liaison with external consultants to drive the best outcome of audits with cost efficient approach.
Experience Required
5 to 7 years of relevant work experience in indirect taxes
Experience in industry with global operations or/ and big 4 accounting firm
Strategic and proactive mindset with smart functioning abilities
Experience in handling taxation matters at assessments/ audits, appellate level
Experience in liaising with tax auditors, tax consultants and revenue authorities
Experience in tax controversy and detailed transactional analysis
Experience with indirect tax setup in ERP systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to perform critical analysis, prioritize with problem solving approach
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to foster a collaborative, team environment
Strong organizational skills and eye to detail
Strong research, analytical and drafting skills
A results-oriented self-starter with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, effectively prioritize, and execute
Ability to thrive in a change environment
Fluent in English

Chartered Accountant
A law degree will be an added advantage
