Overview
The SBA Closing Specialist will exercise authority in administering compliance with SBA guidelines by understanding and applying the SBA manual and communicating directly with SBA representatives as needed, including the SBA Loan Program Director, Business Development Officers, and SBA Senior Lending Closing Specialist with aspects related to the SBA 7a Loan Program across the entire bank footprint. This position will also assist with the bid process and sale process of SBA 7A Guaranteed Loan portions.

Responsibilities
- Assist Loan Officer, Closing Attorney, and Borrowers with all aspects of working file toward a successful loan closing
- Has authority to make independent decisions in regards to following the SBA Standard Operating Procedure manual (SOP) and communicates autonomously and independently with the US Small Business Administration, Georgia District Office, and NAGGL (National Association of Guaranteed Government Lending)
- Aid the lender in collecting financial and SBA specific loan documentation in order for the Loan Officer to determine the general credit worthiness of the prospects and the merits of the specific loan request
- Collect information which reflects the current credit worthiness of customers and the current merits of existing loans
- Document equity injections, using departmental tools, consistent with SBA SOP requirements
- Individually submit SBA Loan packages electronically to the SBA for its review and final approval decision
- Act as liaison between attorney and customer and decipher SBA terminology to borrowers in layman terms
- Prepare all the necessary entries to book loans including loan proceeds checks and wires
- Monitor and clear loan closing-related exceptions
- Responsible for keeping records and for assisting with draw requests on loans where there is a funding period
- Determine loan documentation and compliance documents needed for loans
- Handle and facilitate problem resolution with post-closing audits and servicing reviews
- Assist the officers in gathering financial data and credit information used in the credit decision
- Handle confidential files and records of the bank
- Compile and submit Credit and Collateral Files into nCino and to Central Loan Operations
- Book all new loans into bank systems using established processes
- Employee will also assist with the bid process and sale process of SBA 7a Guaranteed Loan portions
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 2 years of SBA job related experience
- Ability to operate a personal computer using Microsoft Word and Excel. nCino experience preferred
- Working knowledge of loan documentation including current SBA Standard Operating Procedure manual (SOP) and other procedure manuals
- Basic knowledge of SBA-ETRAN via the Capital Access Financial System portal
- Basic knowledge of Accounting
- Basic knowledge of legal aspects related to lending
- Knowledge of all necessary computer applications
- Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers as well as fellow employees
