About the Role -
The Senior Accountant is responsible for executing and supporting core accounting, reconciliation, and close activities, ensuring financial information is recorded accurately, timely, and in compliance with IFRS and corporate accounting policies. This role plays an important part in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting and supporting a strong internal control environment for the businesses supported by Wolters Kluwer.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
Execute assigned aspects of the month‑end close and reporting process in alignment with the Corporate Reporting calendar
Ensure assigned transactions are recorded and reported in a timely, complete, and accurate manner
Identify accounting issues within assigned areas, assess impact, and escalate to management with supporting analysis
Perform and review reconciliations (GL, AP, AR, bank) on a monthly, quarterly, or semi‑annual basis, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items with appropriate documentation
Maintain desktop procedures for assigned processes, supporting updates as directed
Adhere to close checklists and internal controls, ensuring timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks
Prepare supporting schedules, analyses, and reports with clear documentation and transparency
Support accounting‑related inquiries by partnering effectively with accounting, finance, and operations teams
Collaborate with peers and management to support knowledge sharing and best‑practice adoption
Independently manage assigned ad hoc requests and tasks, maintaining accountability for accuracy and timeliness
Participate in process improvements, standardization, automation, and efficiency initiatives
Job Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (B.Com) with an academic specialization in Accounting only (required)
(Accounting, Accountancy, Accounting & Auditing, or Accounting & Taxation)
Required Experience:
7–9 years of progressive, relevant accounting and/or audit experience
3–5 years of hands‑on general ledger and/or Record‑to‑Report (RTR) experience
Strong understanding of IFRS and ability to apply corporate accounting policies
Experience working within a controlled close environment, including documentation and audit support
Experience working in large, complex general ledger environments
Prior experience in a shared services, multinational, or global corporate environment
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Preferred / Highly Desirable Experience:
CA or CPA certification
Public accounting or external audit background
Revenue recognition experience under IFRS 15 (ASC 606 knowledge a plus)
Hands‑on experience with SAP, NetSuite, Great Plains, or similar ERP platforms
Experience using Blackline or similar close and reconciliation tools
Strong reporting, analytical, and data interpretation capabilities
