Job Description

As a trusted payroll leader at GM, you will own and advance Executive Payroll operations in the U.S., serving as the key expert and decision-maker on complex, high-impact matters. Leveraging your deep knowledge of executive payroll processes, tax requirements, and corporate policies, you will represent Payroll in multifunctional work groups, guide strategic initiatives, and ensure flawless, compliant delivery for our executive population. You will collaborate closely with internal partners and third-party vendors, drive process improvements and automation, and provide data-driven insights that shape key business and tax decisions.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and implementation of Executive payroll related activities.

  • Oversight and management of vendor management related to Executives.

  • Execution of payroll Corp tax Initiatives and implementation of strategic direction

  • Ensure GM Payroll is compliant with all federal, state, and local tax regulations related to Executive processing.

  • Maintain a cohesive work relationship between multiple third-party vendors.

  • Network and collaborate with colleagues, third parties, and other GM departments to achieve desired business results.

  • Proactively identify process improvement opportunities and lead change

  • Extract, analyze verify and present data for management decision making.

  • Provide internal and/or external financial analysis and decision support as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls requirements and tax compliance regulations.

  • Lead and/or assist with special projects and global initiatives as required


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree

  • 5+ years with payroll experience

  • Prior Payroll Tax or Executive /global mobility experience

  • Ability to lead project teams and work independently

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills.

  • Possesses a strong understanding of Corporate Executive personnel policies and procedures.

  • Ability to work under pressure and balance multiple projects at one time

  • Thorough knowledge of payroll systems and end to end payroll business processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Payroll Professional Certification

  • Familiarity with automation tools (Excel, KNIME)

Location: Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the - Global HQ Warren MI three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]
