Sr. Business Analyst, Advisors & Consulting Services (12 months fixed term)Role ContextThis is a hands-on fixed term role based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea to program manage a large card migration program with one of Mastercard's key clients.
The role sits within a large, complex transformation initiative and is focused on delivering client-facing transformation and change initiatives. You will work across strategy, process, data, and technology to translate business needs into clear requirements and actionable solutions that drive tangible business value.
You will support a portfolio conversion project, partnering closely with the client, product owners, delivery teams, and leadership to define problems, shape solutions, and ensure successful implementation across complex environments.
The role will work closely with cross functional program teams and delivery partners to ensure customer expectations are effectively managed, and communications are executed in a regulated environment.
Past experience in developing markets would be prioritised.
Role Purpose
The Senior Business Analyst will be an experienced self-starter who likes taking initiative and is comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders to determine business requirements.
All About You:
• Experience with customer segmentation and campaign analytics for banking / finance
• Collaborate with business and client stakeholders to understand objectives, challenges, and requirements.
• Lead requirements gathering and analysis for new and existing processes, systems, and data solutions.
• Define and document business requirements, functional specifications, and user stories.
• Analyse business processes, identify gaps and inefficiencies, and design future state solutions.
• Consume data analysis and identify trends, insights, and opportunities that inform decision-making.
• Develop process maps, current-state and future-state models, and supporting documentation.
• Work closely with technical and delivery teams to support solution design, configuration, and implementation.
• Facilitate workshops and working sessions to align stakeholders and prioritise requirements.
• Support testing, validation, and implementation to ensure solutions meet business needs.
• Prepare clear, executive-ready communications, including analysis, recommendations, and status updates.
• Provide post-implementation support to ensure smooth transition into business as usual.
• Strong experience as a Business Analyst or similar role within complex, change driven environments.
• Proven ability to analyse business processes, systems, and interpret data to drive meaningful outcomes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in fast-paced environments.
• Good communication skills to present findings effectively
• Payments and card industry experience is highly preferred.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification. Advanced degree or MBA preferred
• Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA) or related certifications preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in business analysis or a similar role, with a proven track record of delivering successful projects.
• Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience creating executive-level materials.
• Experience with business analysis and delivery tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Visio.
• Experience with data analytical tools such as SQL, Python, Tableau and/or Power BI.
Note:
• Must be open to travelling extensively and be on-site for a period of time.
