Nursing Assistant, Per Diem Days, Variable Shifts, Pain Management, Atlantic Health, Morristown Medical Center

Provides direct patient care. Monitors and reports patient condition, supports safety and comfort, maintains equipment, and ensures a clean environment/ Collaborates with nursing staff, documents care, and delivers excellent customer service in a fast-paced setting. 

Job Function 1 Direct Patient Care: Assists with ADLs, hygiene, mobility, toileting, emotional support and basic treatments as directed by RN. Supports nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. Assists patients with daily activities. Measures and records vital signs and monitors patient condition. As directed by RN, including but not limited to disinfecting equipment, glucose testing, assist patients with ADLs, obtaining patient vital signs and assisting with procedure tray set up. The sec/tech candidate will be flexible, and patient focused, assisting with patient care and transportation/discharge of patients as needed.

Job Function 2: Reports changes in patient condition: Knowledgeable of the normal values and ranges for vital signs and I&O’s, recognizes abnormal findings and reports to the primary nurse. Participates in Huddle. Documents timely in the patients’ medical record.

Job Function 3: Determines priorities of care: Demonstrates flexibility in responding to patient needs while completing assignments. Completes all assignments unless otherwise directed by charge nurse. Works as a team member in meeting the unit needs. Seeks approval for reprioritization of more complex events deviating from original assignment. Performs activities as needed without supervision.

Job Function 4 Provides and Maintains Safety and Comfort Measures for Patient: Cleans, stocks and sets up rooms for arriving patients. Checks for appropriate patient IDs including falls and allergy. Ensures rooms/department are neat and clean. Rounds with purpose.

Job Function 5 Provides Emotional Support to Patient and Significant Others: Observes and responds to emotional needs of patient and/or significant other. Reports observations to RN for follow up. Observes RN instructions to patients and provides consistent reinforcement as needed.

Job Function 6 Equipment Care: Keeps equipment cleaned and charged. Notifies department leadership of equipment needing repair.

Job Function 7 Maintains Safe Environment. Adheres to OSHA, Joint Commission, Board of Health and hospital standards. Observes and maintains isolation precautions. Follows hand washing protocol. Maintains a clean and clutter free work environment. Uses and stores equipment properly. Must work in a fast-paced environment with positive customer service skills.

High School Diploma or Equivalent
1-2 years previous patient care experience preferred
Customer service experience preferred

BLS Certification Required
CNA Certified preferred
