Skip to main contentHomeProfileJob SearchApplicationsMy EventsJoin Talent NetworkSign InSingle PositionView All JobsEngineer Structural - Level 2/3United States-Arizona-Chandler No longer accepting applications.Job IDR10239532Northrop Grumman Space System Sector has an opening for an Engineer Structural - Level 2/3 to join the Structural Analysis and Test team within Launch Vehicles at the Chandler, AZ facility.Essential Functions:Under minimal direction, perform a variety of structural engineering tasks to support design, analysis, and test of missile and launch vehicle systemsGenerate safety factors for stress, stiffness, buckling, bolted joints, fracture, and other relatable structural failure modesWork in team environment and address issues using skills obtained in the field of engineering related to structural integrity sciencesThe use of finite element software (FEA) in structural analysisInterpret, select, and apply specifications and customer requirements to accomplish specific goalsProduce engineering documentation and technical reportsDetermine appropriate test levels and instrumentation to support the qualification and acceptance of flight structuresBasic Qualifications for Engineer Structural - Level 2: Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 0 years of related engineering experienceAbility to obtain a US Government Secret security clearance, or higherStructural analysis background with demonstrated work experience and knowledgeAbility to read engineering drawings and specificationsComputer skills with standard word processing/spreadsheet experienceAbility to listen effectively, take direction, and possess initiative to accomplish assigned tasks and complete work in a timely fashionBasic Qualifications for Engineer Structural - Level 3: Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 1 year of experienceAbility to obtain a US Government Secret security clearance, or higherStrong structural analysis background with demonstrated work experience and knowledgeAbility to read engineering drawings and specificationsComputer skills with standard word processing/spreadsheet experienceAbility to listen effectively, take direction, and possess initiative to accomplish assigned tasks and complete work in a timely fashionPreferred Qualifications: MS, or PhD in related fieldActive US Government Secret security clearance, or higher at the time of applicationExperience working with high performance flight structuresFEMAP, NX NASTRAN finite element analysis softwareANSYS, ABAQUS, and other software package experience also consideredResearch and experience working with high temperatures, and effects in structural mechanicsThermal loading, advanced high temperature materials, structural responses, and development testingWorking knowledge of CMC material systemsScripting and AI use in fields of engineering and data sciencesExcellent written and verbal communication skills
