Lead Advanced Field Svc Tech- BAS
As a Lead Advanced Field Service Technician here at Honeywell, you will serve as the technical leader for complex Building Automation systems, providing advanced troubleshooting, commissioning, optimization, and lifecycle support for our customers. You will lead field service operations, resolve the most challenging technical issues, mentor and develop field technicians, and partner with engineering, project teams, and customers to deliver best-in-class service and operational excellence.
You will report directly to our Senior Field Service Manager and you will work out of our Herndon, VA location on a Hybrid/Remote work schedule.
In this role, you will impact customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and business growth by delivering advanced technical expertise, leading critical service activities, improving system performance, supporting customer modernization initiatives, and driving continuous improvement across Honeywell's Building Automation portfolio.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and coordinate advanced field service activities for complex Building Automation, HVAC controls, and integrated building management systems.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve highly complex hardware, software, networking, controls, and integration issues to maximize customer uptime and system performance.
- Lead system commissioning, upgrades, migrations, optimization, and cybersecurity best practices for Building Automation platforms.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to Field Service Technicians while serving as the primary escalation point for advanced technical issues.
- Partner with engineering, project management, sales, and customers to develop technical solutions and support critical customer initiatives.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and develop long-term corrective actions for recurring system issues.
- Support customer training, technical documentation, and knowledge transfer to ensure long-term customer success.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Honeywell standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry codes and safety regulations.
- Support emergency service calls and participate in on-call rotations as required.
YOU MUST HAVE
- 5 or more years of experience in field service, preferably supporting Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC controls, or integrated building management systems.
- 5 or more years of Advanced technical knowledge of Building Automation systems, DDC controllers, HVAC controls, sensors, networking, and energy management technologies.
- Proven experience troubleshooting and resolving complex software, hardware, controls, and communication network issues.
- Experience commissioning, upgrading, optimizing, and servicing Building Automation systems.
- Strong knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, Niagara, or other building automation communication protocols.
- Experience utilizing diagnostic software and engineering tools to support advanced service and system optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead customer engagements and complex field assignments.
WE VALUE
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, HVAC Technology, Building Automation, or a related technical field.
- Extensive experience with Honeywell Building Automation platforms such as EBI, WEBs, Spyder, CIPer, ComfortPoint, or Optimizer Suite.
- Previous experience serving as the technical lead or escalation engineer for complex Building Automation projects.
- Proven leadership experience mentoring technicians, leading technical teams, and supporting workforce development.
- Strong customer relationship management and executive communication skills.
- Experience performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA), system performance optimization, and lifecycle modernization projects.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles related to Operational Technology (OT) and Building Automation Systems.
- Strong project coordination, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
