Downer Professional Services is Australia’s multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and Government.

We currently have an opportunity for a Lead Technical Officer in Sydney, NSW to work on SEA2273 – Fleet Information Environment Modernisation projects.

What You’ll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

  • Lead a technical support team providing Level 3 support for the Minerva ICT environment, supporting mission-critical Navy operations.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex and high-priority technical incidents, including High Priority Incidents and on-call resolver activities.
  • Oversee the management of complex ICT infrastructure, including messaging environments, Active Directory, Exchange, Citrix VDI, hypervisors and supporting platforms.
  • Support deployed and degraded network environments, ensuring systems remain available, secure and resilient in DDIL conditions.
  • Develop, approve and maintain technical artefacts, including SOPs, build guides and documentation to support Minerva operations and ship set-to-work activities.

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong technical expertise across Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Skype, Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and hypervisor administration.
  • Proven experience in technical leadership, service desk management or advanced ICT support within Defence Fleet or highly secure ICT environments.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL v4 processes, including incident management, monitoring, service level management and operational support.
  • Experience supporting complex ICT infrastructure, applications and hardware, with the ability to work closely with vendors and partner support teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train and mentor onsite technical staff and ship CIS teams.

 

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain  Security clearance prior to commencement. Compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements will also be an inherent requirement.

This role is based in Sydney only and requires onsite attendance.. The role operates Monday to Friday during business hours, with on-call and occasional after-hours work required.
