You will work alongside our boarded veterinary surgeon - managing complex surgical cases, supporting anesthetic protocols, and providing exceptional nursing care from pre-op through recovery.Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance is required to be considered for this role.Core responsibilities include:Surgical preparation, assistance, and post-operative patient careAnesthetic induction, monitoring, and management throughout proceduresTriage and nursing care of emergency and hospitalized patients with varying acuityCollection and analysis of laboratory samples; radiograph positioning and captureAdministration of medications and treatments per veterinarian directionClear, compassionate communication of treatment plans with clients and familiesAccurate completion of surgical notes, charts, and medical recordsAnimal restraint using low-stress, safe handling techniquesQualificationsWe’re looking for:A certified veterinary technician, 2+ year experience requiredLicensed individuals with a specialty in anesthesia and analgesia or a specialty in surgery would be preferred, but neither is requiredExperienced and proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoringKnowledge in pre-operative care, preparation for surgical procedures, post-operative care, and discussing continued care with clientsOrthopedic and soft tissue experience preferredEmergency surgery experience highly desirableAbility to interpret medical records and record client history accuratelyAbility to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe mannerA high work ethic and positive attitude team memberAbility to arrive on-time and ready to workWeekend availabilityExceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate preciselyProficient in sample collection to include blood samples, urine, fecal, and skinAbility to properly set-up and process laboratory samples and testsProficient in positioning and capturing radiographsA self-starter with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillsetAbility to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiencyAdditional InformationPay Range: $25-$32/hr. depending on level of experience.We offer our staff:Comprehensive Benefits (health, dental, vision, liability, 401k & 401K matching program, life & supplemental insurance, HSA, & FSA) Employee Assistance Program Paid Vacation and Sick Time for ALL Employees Paid Bereavement Program Paid Parental Leave Program Competitive Compensation Continuing Education Allowance (applies to licensed/registered/certified roles)Tuition Reimbursement Program Available to any AVMA Accredited Veterinary Technology ProgramCareer Development Opportunities Referral Bonus Program for most positions!
