Unpack, sort, transfer, and dry geological samples in accordance with work order instructions and laboratory quality guidelinesExecute crushing, pulverizing, and screening of geological materials following established Standard Operating ProceduresConduct routine quality checks including particle size analysis and dust loss measurements, reporting any out-of-specification results immediately to supervisorsComplete and maintain accurate work order documentation and enter Quality Control results into laboratory information management systems as requiredMaintain a clean, organized, and safe workbench area, ensuring spills are promptly cleaned and disposed of according to laboratory procedures, including special handling requirements for international materialsInspect equipment regularly and alert supervisors to any damaged, defective, or malfunctioning equipment requiring adjustment or maintenanceKeep detailed records and notebooks in good order, including work order logs and equipment maintenance documentationSupport other areas of the laboratory when needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn new processesEnsure full compliance with company Health & Safety policies, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct standardsQualificationsHigh school Diploma or equivalent0-1 years of relevant laboratory or sample preparation experience, or equivalent experience through educationStrong analytical and mechanical skills with the ability to perform routine bench tests accuratelyExcellent attention to detail and proven time management abilitiesSolid verbal and written communication skillsAbility to read, understand, and follow technical work instructions in a safe, accurate, and timely mannerCapability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environmentDemonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlinesPhysical capability to perform manual labor tasks, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in a laboratory environmentFlexibility to work rotating shifts, extended hours, and shift work as requiredStrong safety-conscious mindset with commitment to maintaining a secure workplaceWillingness to learn new analytical tests, instrumentation, and laboratory proceduresAbility to maintain accurate records and documentationOpenness to travel to other laboratory locations or client sites when necessaryCommitment to upholding company Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policiesAdditional InformationSalary: $22 to $23 per hour / 40 hours per weekSome benefit highlights:80% coverage Health, Dental and Vision Paid time offRRSP Program Eligibility SGS is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and as such we recruit, hire, train, and promote persons in all job classifications without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression and Indigenous status, or any other characteristics protected by law.
