## About this Role
We are seeking a skilled IoT Data Engineer (2nd Line Support) to develop, maintain, and optimise IT and telecom systems used by enterprise customers on Vodafone’s global IoT platform. This role focuses on ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability of complex systems while supporting automation, system improvements, and seamless transitions from development to operational environments. The individual will play a key role in incident resolution, system optimisation, and delivering cost-effective, high-quality services to customers.
## What you’ll do
* Develop, test, and implement scripts and software solutions supporting Vodafone IoT enterprise services
* Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of critical applications and network systems
* Provide 2nd Line technical support for network applications, including on-call responsibilities
* Analyse incidents, perform impact assessments, and implement effective technical solutions
* Modify and enhance software systems to improve performance and customer experience
* Review and implement technical and functional specifications for IT systems
* Support hardware and software changes, including documentation and implementation procedures
* Contribute to automation initiatives by identifying opportunities and developing scripts
* Participate in the creation of technical documentation, procedures, and training materials
* Monitor and meet operational KPIs such as response time, speed, and error rates
## Who you are
* Experience in Telecom Core Packet Switching (e.g. GGSN, PGW, SGSN, MME, DNS, BIG-IP, Firewalls)
* Practical experience with network equipment such as Cisco, Juniper, Affirmed, and F5
* Strong understanding of telecom networks (GSM, UMTS, LTE, NB-IoT)
* Knowledge of protocols including GTP, RADIUS, Diameter, IP, BGP, MPLS, L3-VPN, and IPSEC
* Experience working with Linux/UNIX environments and virtualisation platforms (e.g. VMware)
* Hands-on experience with network analysis tools (e.g. Wireshark, tcpdump)
* Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement solutions
* Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Grafana and Cacti
* Understanding of ITIL methodology
* Programming knowledge (e.g. Python, Perl, Bash)
* Experience with C-SGN, GTP-Proxy, and PCRF
* Relevant certifications such as CCNA or CCNP (Service Provider preferred)
* Comfortable working in a multinational environment
* Proficiency in English (B2–C1)
