Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for a Engineer or Principal Engineer level RF Electronics Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our organization. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.
In this role, you will contribute to the overall development and integration of RF Subsystems, including analyzing performance, developing and managing requirements and interfaces, and verifying/validating all allocated requirements.
Responsibilities include:
* Support development and integration of communications and other RF subsystems and components to meet platform mission objectives
* Requirements development, analysis, maturation and implementation translating customer requirements into derived specifications
* Perform Computational Electromagnetic (CEM) antenna analysis for source/victim (co-site) analysis
* Conducting detailed trade studies
* Performing risk analysis and developing mitigation plans and tracking to closure
* Collaborate with engineers and program stakeholders
* Developing and maintaining supplier documentation, performance based specifications, and statements of work
* Technical management of program strategic partners and suppliers, including development, acquisition, acceptance, qualification, system integration and test support
* Review documents from the supplier’s development effort and support supplier technical interchange meetings and design reviews
* Identifying/planning/executing informal and formal testing of subsystem requirements in lab, troubleshooting hardware in the lab
* Performing aircraft ground and flight test on subsystems to validate and verify subsystem requirement and sell-off
* Support technical discussions with the customer and having daily interaction with management, external personnel, customers, and various sub teams
Expected Skills:
* Knowledge of electromagnetics in the RF spectrum (VHF through Ka bands)
* Ability to design, select and characterize RF components to meet mission objectives
* Problem-solving ability and data analysis experience
* Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation
* Ability to review documents from the supplier’s development effort and support supplier technical interchange meetings and design review
* Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a close team environment
This role can be filled at either the Engineer or Principal Engineer level, based on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications:
At an Engineer Level:
* Must have a Bachelors degree in a STEM field and at least 2 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field and at least some of relevant military / professional / academic experience
