The Opportunity

Downer’s Energy & Utilities business is seeking an experienced Regional Asset Manager to lead asset management activities across a designated region. Reporting to the Operations Manager – Internal Asset Management, this role acts as the key link between operational teams and our Asset Management Hub, ensuring our fleet, plant, equipment, tooling and temporary infrastructure remain safe, compliant, fit for purpose and available when our operations need them most.

This is a highly visible leadership role where you will work closely with Regional Operations Managers, Project Managers, Site Leaders and senior stakeholders to optimise asset performance, utilisation and total cost of ownership. You will play a critical role in delivering asset initiatives, supporting business growth, improving operational efficiency and driving a culture of continuous improvement.

If you thrive in complex operational environments and enjoy combining strategic planning with hands-on stakeholder engagement, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact across a Tier 1 ASX-listed organisation.

What You'll Do

  • Lead regional asset management activities across vehicles, plant, equipment and tooling, ensuring safety, compliance and operational readiness.
  • Partner with operational stakeholders to optimise asset utilisation, lifecycle planning and total cost of ownership outcomes.
  • Oversee maintenance, compliance, defect management and service schedules to maximise asset availability and minimise downtime.
  • Manage supplier and contractor relationships, including workshops, OEMs, hire providers and maintenance partners.
  • Drive regional implementation of asset management initiatives, technology solutions, telematics and continuous improvement programs.

What We Offer

  • Leadership opportunity with genuine influence across a large and diverse operational portfolio.
  • Flexible working arrangements and autonomy to manage your region effectively.
  • Career development pathways supported by Downer’s dedicated internal mobility and succession programs.
  • Access to leadership and development initiatives including THRIVEEmpowHER and other professional development opportunities.
  • Employee benefits through Perks@Downer, providing discounts across travel, retail, health and wellbeing.
  • The opportunity to work with a Tier 1 ASX-listed organisation with extensive in-house capabilities and long-term career opportunities.
  • A collaborative, safety-focused culture committed to innovation, operational excellence and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong mechanical trade or engineering background
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale fleets, plant, equipment or asset portfolios within construction, mining, industrial, utilities, infrastructure or similar operational environments.
  • Strong knowledge of asset lifecycle management, compliance, maintenance planning, utilisation improvement and total cost of ownership principles.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders and manage supplier performance.
  • Sound financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, reporting and business case development.
  • Well-developed communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience leveraging technology and data to drive operational outcomes.
