The Cloud Infrastructure Platform Engineer will design and operate resilient cloud and hybrid infrastructure platforms that support mission applications and enterprise workloads. This role emphasizes Kubernetes orchestration, virtualization, cloud networking, identity management, automation, and secure open-source platform engineering.
Design, implement, and maintain hybrid cloud environments integrating public cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
Architect and operate Kubernetes clusters for production-grade application hosting and platform services.
Deploy and manage containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
Engineer and maintain virtualized infrastructure using platforms such as Proxmox and VMware (vSphere or similar).
Design and manage cloud networking architecture, including VPC/VNet design, routing, segmentation, firewalls, load balancing, DNS, and secure cross-domain connectivity.
Implement and manage identity and access management solutions, including integration of open-source platforms such as ZITADEL.
Deploy immutable and secure operating system frameworks such as Kairos to support cloud-native and edge infrastructure use cases.
Integrate distributed communication technologies such as Zenoh to enable secure, low-latency service communication across hybrid environments.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of cloud and virtual infrastructure.
Implement CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments and platform updates.
Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot platform performance across compute, storage, networking, and container orchestration layers.
Apply security hardening practices aligned with DoD security frameworks (NIST, STIGs, CMMC) across cloud and on-prem environments.
Support platform modernization initiatives, including migration of legacy virtualized environments into cloud-native architectures.
Collaborate with cybersecurity, network engineering, and application teams to ensure platform reliability, scalability, and compliance.
