We are currently seeking dedicated and experienced individuals to fill the Senior Buyer Position at our food manufacturing facility located at 90 Stemmers Lane, Westampton, NJ 08060. The Senior Buyer is responsible for executing the day-to-day procurement of ingredients, packaging materials, proteins, produce, indirect supplies, and other production-related goods required to support meal kit and tray manufacturing across East and West Coast facilities. This role ensures timely material availability to meet production schedules for both Business-to-Business (B2B) and Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) operations while maintaining optimal inventory levels, supplier performance, and cost efficiency.
The Senior Buyer works closely with Finance, Planning, Operations, Quality Assurance, Warehouse, Logistics, and suppliers to ensure uninterrupted supply while supporting company growth and customer satisfaction.
What will you be doing:
Purchase ingredients, proteins, produce, packaging, consumables, and indirect materials to support manufacturing operations.
Manage daily purchasing activities for multiple manufacturing facilities.
Create, issue, and manage purchase orders through the ERP/MRP system such as Navision
Monitor purchase orders from placement through delivery and resolve supply disruptions.
Ensure materials arrive on time to meet production schedules.
Review demand forecasts and adjust purchasing plans accordingly.
Expedite critical orders when necessary to minimize production downtime.
Maintain strong working relationships with approved suppliers.
Obtain competitive pricing and negotiate routine purchases within established guidelines.
Escalate supplier performance concerns and work with Procurement leadership to resolve issues.
Coordinate with suppliers regarding shortages, substitutions, and delivery schedules.
Monitor inventory levels and replenish materials based on forecasted demand.
Balance inventory investment while preventing stockouts.
Identify excess, obsolete, or slow-moving inventory.
Recommend inventory optimization opportunities.
Support cycle counts and inventory reconciliation activities.
Coordinate with Warehouse receiving teams to ensure timely receipt of materials.
Identify opportunities for cost reductions through supplier negotiations and purchasing efficiencies.
Review pricing changes and communicate cost impacts to Procurement leadership.
Maintain accurate supplier pricing and item master data.
Update lead times and purchasing parameters in ERP
Ensure purchasing activities comply with company procurement policies.
Support compliance with FDA, USDA, FSMA, GMP, HACCP, SQF/BRC, and customer standards.
Ability to travel 20-30% as business needs require.
Regular travel between East and West Coast manufacturing facilities to support procurement activities, supplier management, production needs, and cross-functional projects.
Occasional travel to supplier locations, industry trade shows, and business meetings.
Ability to work in-person from either locations is required
