Field Applications Engineer
Optical module & Data Center Connectivity
Location: Chengdu
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to support strategic optical communication and data center customers in Greater China.
In this role, you will work closely with customers, sales teams, and product groups to drive design wins and provide system-level technical support across Analog Devices' portfolio. You will also contribute to future product and system solution development by providing deep insights into optical module architectures, customer challenges, and market trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with key customers to understand their application requirements and technical challenges, and develop effective engagement strategies together with the sales team.
- Drive design-in and design-win activities for Analog Devices' portfolio, including:
- Microcontrollers (MCUs)
- Integrated analog front edge (AFE)
- Operational Amplifiers
- ADCs and DACs
- Power Management Solutions
- Module-Level Products
- Provide comprehensive technical support throughout the customer design cycle, including:
- Schematic review
- PCB layout review
- Board bring-up and debugging
- Deliver technical training, product presentations, and application workshops to customer engineering teams.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers and help accelerate product adoption and successful deployment.
- Monitor industry trends in optical communications, AI infrastructure, cloud networking, and data center interconnect technologies.
- Work with worldwide product and marketing teams to influence future product definitions and system-level solutions based on customer requirements and market intelligence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Optical Communications, Telecommunications, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong understanding of optical module architectures and design principles, including high-speed optical transceivers used in data center and telecom applications.
- Solid knowledge of optical communication systems and networking technologies.
- Demonstrated understanding of emerging data center interconnect trends, including:
- 800G / 1.6T Optical Modules
- Silicon Photonics
- Co-Packaged Optics (CPO)
- Scale-Up / Scale-Out AI Networking Architectures
- Strong foundation in:
- MCU (Hardware & Firmware)
- Signal chain architectures
- Experience in hardware debugging, system integration, and validation.
- Self-motivated and results-driven with the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with strong customer-facing capabilities.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin, both written and spoken.
