We move fast and need to move faster.If we succeed, science will be the only limit to medicine.All full-time roles are in person in New York.About the roleAs our first dedicated accounting hire, you will own how Forus closes the books, reports financials, and builds the systems and controls that strengthen our financial foundation as we scale. The foundation you build is what lets Forus scale its provider network and commercial partnerships on numbers that leadership, auditors, and partners can trust.You will run the close, own the General Ledger, manage technical accounting, implement controls, and engage directly with auditors and external partners. You will help architect the function itself: advancing our tools, designing the processes, and setting the standards that the team will inherit as we grow. We are a small and nimble finance team, and this role is for someone energized by doing the work and shaping how it gets done.This is a demanding role, with a high level of autonomy and responsibility. You will be expected to "act like an owner" and commit yourself to Forus' success. If you are low-ego, hungry to learn, and excited about intense, impactful work that drives both company growth and accelerated career progression, we want to hear from you.If you join, you will:Own core accounting operations end-to-end, including monthly close, GL, AP/AR, payroll, tax, and technical accounting, and set the cadence that delivers accurate, timely financialsDesign and document the controls, policies, and processes of a best-in-class accounting function, building infrastructure the team can inherit as we growDrive technical accounting decisions across revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, multi-entity reporting, and capitalization policiesEvaluate and implement the tools and systems (ERP, AP/AR, payroll, and adjacent platforms) that scale with the demands of the businessPartner with Strategic Finance to produce the monthly reporting package, board materials, and investor reportingWork with Legal and Operations to structure contracts, pricing, and financial controls that hold up as the business scalesWe’re looking for you if you have:5–10 years of accounting experience, including Big 4 or equivalent audit experienceDemonstrated experience implementing modern financial systems and ERPs — QuickBooks, NetSuite, Ramp, Bill, Rippling, or similar — with informed opinions about what fits at our stage versus the next oneDeep working knowledge of US GAAP, financial controls, and technical...
