Location: Pune
Teaser:
A.P. Moller - Maersk is an integrated container logistics company and member of the A.P. Moller Group. Connecting and simplifying trade to help our customers grow and thrive, we operate globally to enable trade across the full supply chain. In A.P. Moller - Maersk’s terminal business, APM Terminals, we are looking for a Validation Engineer to play a global role in the Edge Platform organisation, supporting validation across more than 30 container terminals. Reporting to the Global Head of Edge Infrastructure Platform Lifecycle Services, you will orchestrate and integrate how the Edge platform is validated in close collaboration with other global platforms and shared services, regional IT teams and terminal IT teams. This is a mid-senior individual contributor role aligned to SFIA Level 3 and requires a strong delivery and service mindset, the ability to work across cultures and time zones, and willingness to travel to terminals and key stakeholder locations when required.
We Offer:
You will join an ambitious engineering organisation responsible for the Edge Platform capabilities that underpin modern terminal operations. The Edge Platform includes Edge Communications, Edge Data Centre, Edge Management and Platform Lifecycle Services, supported by shared function engineering services from Maersk. The role requires orchestration of validation of service instances across networks, operational yard connectivity, compute, storage, backup, observability, management tooling and cyber services. As an SFIA Level 3 role, you will work independently under general direction, with a strong focus on orchestration, integration, governance, lessons learned and maturity growth rather than deep technical design ownership. You will also be expected to help mature the Platform Lifecycle Services team by providing ideas on improving how we plan, govern, learn and deliver together. We are a globally distributed team, and everyone is expected to contribute to a practical, collaborative and engaging team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Govern and deliver against the end-to-end validation framework for the Edge Platform across all engineered products, including third-party technologies.
- Contribute to and maintain validation standards, acceptance criteria and readiness gates for all platform deployments globally.
- Lead validation activities within the Platform Lab and across all subsequent terminal and regional deployments.
- Influence the shaping of validation strategies covering functionality, resilience, performance, recoverability and operational supportability.
- Enable operational readiness assessments across compute, network, backup, disaster recovery, monitoring, cyber security, support tooling, documentation and service management processes.
- Establish and continuously improve automated validation approaches across platform technologies.
- Ensure defects, deviations, risks and non-conformances are identified, tracked and resolved prior to production release.
- Provide formal evidence-based recommendations relating to service acceptance and production readiness.
- Partner with Platform Architects, Engineering Leads, Cyber Security, Operations and Service Management teams to drive quality outcomes.
- Facilitate validation workshops, readiness reviews, governance forums and acceptance boards.
- Ensure support documentation, runbooks, monitoring, backup, recovery and operational procedures are in place before service acceptance.
- Drive continuous improvement based on feedback from regional teams, terminal stakeholders and operational support organisations.
- Support in defining and maintaining validation KPIs, quality metrics and readiness reporting for leadership stakeholders.
- Ensure validation processes remain engineering-led, repeatable and consistently applied across all platform products and global implementations.
Who we are looking for:
This is a mid-senior individual contributor position. We are looking for a candidate who can fit our parity in terms of compensation and seniority within the team.
Essential skills (must-have):
- 6–9 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, platform operations, service validation, testing, quality assurance or operational readiness, operating at a mid-senior individual contributor level.
- Proven experience contributing to large and complex infrastructure, platform or edge technology programmes.
- Strong understanding of validation methodologies, testing frameworks and operational readiness practices.
- Demonstrable knowledge of ITIL principles and service acceptance governance.
- In-depth knowledge of Edge Infrastructure, Data Centre technologies, Networking, Compute, Storage and Virtualisation platforms.
- Strong understanding of Disaster Recovery, Backup, Monitoring and Observability solutions.
- Experience defining validation plans, acceptance criteria and quality assurance frameworks
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, challenge and drive evidence-based decision making.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
- Collaborative mindset across business, engineering and operational teams.
- Agile mindset with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Desirable skills (nice-to-have):
- Experience working with cyber security controls, risk management and compliance requirements.
- Experience driving automation and continuous validation practices, including CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience designing KPIs, validation dashboards and operational readiness reporting.
- Experience working within industrial, operational technology (OT) or critical infrastructure environments.
