About the role and team
As a Program Manager I, Tech within the GSS Risk Operations team, you will play a pivotal role in tackling complex challenges by bringing a software engineering and data-driven mindset to address emerging risks and technical operational hurdles.
A core focus of this position is building and scaling technical solutions to investigate fraud and abuse cases, identifying and analyzing architectural vulnerabilities and crafting automated solutions to combat and prevent fraudulent activity. You'll partner closely with the Engg and Product teams as a technical lead, ensuring that feedback loops are established to continuously refine and improve risk detection systems through code and algorithm optimizations.
In this role, creative problem-solving, marketplace risk and fraud knowledge, and an eye for detail will be essential. You will work cross-functionally, manage stakeholders effectively, and drive projects to meet timelines and budgetary constraints. Your contributions will help protect the platform, enhance user trust, and optimize Uber’s overall approach to risk management.
What you’ll do
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate program risks and issues, ensuring timely escalation and resolution.
- Execution and Delivery: Independently provide qualitative and quantitative insights to help improve the Risk Operations team
- Program Leadership: Define program scope, OKRs, and KPIs. Ensure alignment with stakeholder objectives.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with cross-functional teams across ops, engineering, and product for all risk ops needs with Uber.
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze program performance and implement optimizations to improve efficiency and outcomes.
- Communication: Provide regular program updates to stakeholders, including executive leadership. Conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews.
Basic Qualifications
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, or similar languages for data analysis and automation
- Understanding of system architecture and API integrations
- Experience of working with scaled operations teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to influence people across a wide variety of job functions through your relationships
- Self-motivated with a strong affinity for strategic problem solving, operations management, and driving action
- Willing to explore and learn new technologies, hybrid processes
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in Risk program management
- Experience in solving problems, both structured and ambiguous, at scale with strong attention to detail in fast-changing business environments with a technical mindset
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, and recommendations and drive customer- and product-focused decisions
- Experience working on large-scale projects
- Vendor/account management experience
