Position Summary:
As one of the first members of the Voya team, you will have a key role in the development of the company.
We’re looking for scientists and engineers who are passionate about research, innovation, and entrepreneurship to help develop and scale the cell chemistry for Voya’s metal-fueled generator. The successful candidate will take a leading role in setting the scientific direction of the company.
Responsibilities:
Develop an efficient and rapid crystallization and separation processes to continuously remove oxidized metal fuel from the electrolyte of Voya’s metal-air fuel cell.
Optimize electrolyte formulations and operating process conditions to accelerate precipitation and improve filtration efficiency.
Work with vendors and Voya’s engineering team to design, build, and validate equipment to implement the process in Voya’s generators.
Work with Voya’s product development team to scale and demonstrate new materials and processes in pilot and production-intent systems.
Qualifications:
Track record of developing new crystallization or separation processes or equipment or extensive use of crystallization or separation processes in development of novel materials.
Previous experience building and validating continuous multiphase reactor and filtration systems at both bench and pilot scale preferred.
Previous experience working with systems that involve solid handling and solid characterization preferred.
Experience working with cross-functional teams, preferably for system or device development.
Ability to operate in a fast-paced, start-up environment
Results-oriented with a strong sense urgency
