The Scrum Master will facilitate processes, remove impediments, manage risk, promote architectural strengths, and help drive continuous improvements at the project level.
Working closely with assigned project managers who will focus on traditional PMO type functions and communicate to non-development stakeholders, the Scrum Master will have freedom to focus more energy on the scrum team members (including Dev, QA, Product Owners, Architects), the scrum ceremonies, and the artifacts of the sprints (JIRA, Confluence, sprint dashboards, etc.). This role is accountable for supporting the growing need for agile leadership in a very fast paced work environment with a key focus on pushing projects forward. As the only Scrum Master, this employee must have a strong understanding of Scrum practices and be able to independently implement and maintain them.
Responsibilities:
If requested by the team, you will act as facilitator for Scrum Ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and any other sessions required
Focus on removing any impediments that the team may encounter
Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
Enable discussion and conflict resolution to improve team productivity while promoting continuous improvement
Work closely with Product Owners to help in the understanding and development of the product backlog
Utilize the Servant Leadership style whenever possible to support Scrum teams
Act as a champion of the Scrum framework both internally and externally
Work across multiple scrum teams and help to coordinate efforts
Ensure the delivery team practices the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility
Assist in forecasting Sprint Goals through story selection and task definition
Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution
Empower the teams to self-organize
Produce agile metrics and provide context of metrics results
Guide team to adhere to agile based standards, tools and best practices and maintain process documentation
Participate in / Lead design meetings
Provide analysis and estimates for work required within areas of responsibility
Review code developed by others as requested
Provide technical direction for solutions to projects within the product line
Required Skills:
2 to 5 years Scrum Master experience
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types
Strong knowledge of Agile rules and practices, with extensive experience working in an agile organization
Experience in playing the Scrum Master role for at least two years for a software development team
Awareness and experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.
Proficient with ticketing tools like JIRA, Agile Central, etc.
Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
Exceptional communication skills
Organized and self-directing with the ability to identify priorities and mobilize projects in an orderly fashion to achieve desired results
Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles
A language agnostic view of software development with a willingness to learn and propose new technologies where appropriate
Strong focus on quality with experience in building unit and regression test suites
Must work effectively with others in a team environment
Qualifications:
Successful completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in computer science or technology (or equivalent), or sufficient equivalent work place experience
Second level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM II)
