## Description
We are Northrop Grumman Australia (NGA). Our 800 strong team is leveraging unparalleled global resources to deliver sovereign Defence capability aligned to the Government’s priorities across Aeronautics, Mission Critical Systems, Space and Guided Weapons. As we build our business and our capabilities, we are also developing a reputation as a great place to work. Help us define what is possible for our nation and for your career.
The Role:
Supporting the RAAF's C-27J Spartan fleet, you'll work alongside the Operations Manager to help lead Base Maintenance operations.
This is a technical leadership role with responsibility for maintenance planning, scheduling, maintenance control and aircraft availability outcomes. You'll lead the teams that translate maintenance demand into executable plans, balancing workforce capacity, resources and operational priorities to keep the program moving.
Acting as the operational 2IC to the Operations Manager, you'll have influence across workforce planning, resource forecasting, operational reporting and continuous improvement while helping guide responses to emerging maintenance priorities and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Production Planning, Scheduling, Maintenance Control and Technical Support functions that underpin Base Maintenance operations.
* Act as a key deputy to the Operations Manager, helping drive operational priorities, workforce planning and maintenance outcomes.
* Balance maintenance demand, workforce capacity and resource availability to support aircraft availability targets.
* Support operational forecasting, budget planning and resourcing activities across the maintenance function.
* Coordinate maintenance priorities and recovery activities during emerging operational issues and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events.
* Deliver operational reporting and performance insights to support decision making.
* Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen planning, scheduling and maintenance execution.
* Build productive relationships with Defence customers and internal stakeholders to support successful program delivery.
About You
You understand the realities of aircraft maintenance and what it takes to turn a maintenance plan into an operational outcome.
You may come from maintenance planning, maintenance control, production planning, fleet management or aviation operations leadership and have developed your career balancing resources, schedules and customer expectations in a complex environment.
You're a leader who sees the bigger picture. Rather than being hands-on with the tools, you enjoy solving operational problems, understanding impacts to aircraft availability and helping teams make informed decisions when priorities change.
This role is ideal for someone looking to step beyond maintenance planning or maintenance control into a broader operational leadership position with influence across workforce planning, resource management and aircraft availability.
You'll bring:
* Experience in aviation maintenance, maintenance planning, maintenance control, fleet planning or Defence operations.
* Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence outcomes across multiple teams and stakeholders.
* Experience in workforce planning, resource allocation and operational delivery.
* An understanding of aircraft availability, maintenance scheduling and operational priorities.
* The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in dynamic, high-pressure environments.
* A practical, data-driven approach to planning, problem solving and continuous improvement.
* Certificate IV or Diploma in Aeroskills, or equivalent relevant experience.
