Job Title

Industrial Warehouse Planning Specialist

Position Summary

The Industrial Warehouse Planning Specialist is responsible for optimizing warehouse operations through strategic planning, space utilization, inventory flow management, and continuous process improvement. This role works closely with operations, logistics, engineering, supply chain, and production teams to ensure efficient warehouse layouts, inventory accuracy, material movement, and capacity planning. The specialist analyzes operational data and develops solutions that improve productivity, reduce costs, and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Planning & Optimization

  • Develop and maintain warehouse layouts that maximize storage capacity, material flow, and operational efficiency.
  • Analyze warehouse utilization and recommend improvements for space optimization.
  • Evaluate current and future storage requirements and create capacity plans to support business needs.
  • Design and implement warehouse slotting strategies to improve inventory accessibility and picking efficiency.
  • Support warehouse expansions, relocations, and reconfigurations.

Inventory & Material Flow Management

  • Monitor inventory levels and storage locations to ensure optimal stock placement.
  • Coordinate with supply chain, procurement, and production teams to support inventory replenishment and material availability.
  • Analyze inventory movement trends and recommend changes to improve throughput and reduce handling costs.
  • Ensure proper material flow from receiving through storage, picking, staging, and shipping operations.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret warehouse operational data.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and KPIs related to capacity utilization, inventory accuracy, productivity, and throughput.
  • Identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Provide recommendations based on data-driven analysis.

Process Improvement

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Standardize warehouse processes and procedures to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process enhancements.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.

Systems & Compliance

  • Maintain warehouse master data within Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems, and inventory platforms.
  • Ensure warehouse planning activities comply with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audits and inventory reconciliation activities.
  • Assist with implementation and upgrades of warehouse technology solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in warehouse planning, logistics, supply chain, inventory management, or industrial operations.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, industrial, or large-scale warehouse environments.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with warehouse design, slotting optimization, and capacity planning.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, AutoCAD, or warehouse simulation software.
  • APICS/ASCM, CPIM, CSCP, Lean, or Six Sigma certification.
