Founded in 2023, we’re based in Bergen (Norway) and Barcelona (Spain), and backed by some of the world’s most ambitious investors.What you’ll do:Develop theoretical models of laser cooling and manipulation of beams of metastable atoms.Work on general physics problems related to the production of cold intense beams of neutral atoms.Develop numerical models to validate theoretical models with an emphasis on realistic engineering constraints.Produce simulation tools to be used by other teams.Collaborate across teams on theoretical, simulation, and experimental projects.Produce and maintain high quality documentation and code, as well as review documentation and code written by colleagues.Mentor junior members of the teamWho you are:An expert AMO physicist that thrives in a collaborative fast paced environment working on complex, interconnected, and evolving problems. With your expertise in the art of research you are highly capable of working on problems that may be ill defined or involve subjects that are outside your area of specialization.RequirementsPhD or equivalent level of experience.Significant experience with laser cooling and manipulation of atoms.Direct experience with atom beams or supersonic sourcesHands on lab experienceSignificant record of publications or strong thesisCapable of back of the envelope calculations to assess physics/engineering problems and proposalsOur team here at Lace:…consists of amazing people who’ve joined us from all over the world, driven by intense curiosity, the urge for exploration, and a desire to push the limits of physics.
