We are seeking a passionate Senior Software Engineer to join our team of technical specialists, software engineers, and product managers dedicated to building and supporting software products for our manufacturing plants worldwide. As a key member of our Manufacturing I.T. team, you will play a critical part in shaping the future of Ford's mobility and electrification efforts. You should have a strong technical background and demonstrate experience in full stack software engineering, cloud-native microservices, and modern web application development.
Responsibilities include the end-to-end design, development, and support of APIs, platforms, and services, from concept to production, working within cross-functional teams and in close partnership with Advanced Manufacturing business partners, IT staff, and end-users such as manufacturing and industrial engineers. By leveraging technical expertise and a customer-centric approach, you will deliver high-quality software products that improve plant operations, increase visibility into process data, and drive manufacturing efficiency at scale.
- Serve as a Full Stack Software Engineer that enables the design, development, and support of APIs, platforms, and services
- Develop Spring Boot/Java API and microservices on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) utilizing GCP services
- Develop Angular and React applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) utilizing GCP services
- Review ongoing production software operations and troubleshoot production issues
- Deliver software frequently using Test Driven Development (TDD), continuous integration, and continuous deployment (CI/CD)
- Work with team members to establish best practices to maximize efficiency and minimize risk
- Mentor junior software engineers
- Interact and work closely with product managers and software engineers on the team to devise solutions and break them into incremental production-ready user stories
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Advanced Manufacturing business partners, IT staff, and end-users
- Thrive in an agile development environment, collaborating closely with product managers and cross-functional engineers

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field of study
- Bachelor of Applied Science preferred
Experience:
- 6+ years of software engineering experience developing Back-End REST APIs, preferably with Java/Spring Boot
- 4+ years of software engineering experience developing Front-End software, preferably with Angular or React
- Proven experience taking a high-level feature request and delivering it from end to end
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent oral and written communication skills and willingness to work with global teams
Required Technical Experience:
- Understanding of document-based databases, i.e., NoSQL, MongoDB
- Experience using software engineering best practices, including Agile methods, version control systems, and unit test validation
- Experience in Software Craftsmanship principles and methodologies, including use of SonarQube, Sonar Lint, and GitHub Copilot for clean code and accelerated development
- A strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices
- Familiarity with building web apps, microservice architectures, and REST APIs
Preferred Experience:
- Manufacturing background, with exposure to Manufacturing Quality, consumer product audits, and legal and mandatory requirements
- Use of DevOps tools such as Tekton, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Fossa, Cycode, and GitHub to deploy, improve, and manage software along with monitoring tools
- Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform, OpenShift, Azure, or other cloud platforms
- Knowledge of deploying new products and applications using continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD)
- Experience performing development individually and collaboratively with cross-functional teams, focusing on end-to-end integration, testing, and issue triage efforts
- Staying current on the latest open-source technology and contributing to the company's technical direction while keeping a customer-centric approach
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

This position is a salary grade 8.
This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $115,000-$192,900.
