Micron’s MaskTech department is responsible for reticle data preparation and mask-related technologies that enable advanced semiconductor manufacturing. The team partners closely with Design, Process Integration, Mask Development, Scribe, Lithography, Tapeout Operations, Mask Shops, and Manufacturing Fabs to ensure successful tapeout execution and high-quality wafer patterning.

As an Optical Proximity Correction (OPC) Engineer, you will process reticle design data through OPC to ensure designs are accurately transferred to silicon during photolithography. You will also develop and improve processes, automated verification methods, and systems that support tapeout operations while collaborating with global teams across the United States, Japan, and India to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Drive OPC job deck development, process flow execution, and recipe optimization to support production and R&D tapeouts.
  • Collaborate with teams from multiple functions to develop new OPC flows, implement best-known methods (BKMs), and resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot OPC process issues, maintaining high-quality work to support a stable production environment.
  • Develop automation, scripts, and process improvements that reduce cycle time, improve quality, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Communicate technical findings, project status, risks, and recommendations to partners and management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering or a related science field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor manufacturing technologies, lithography processes, and photomasks.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills with proven ability to work effectively in global teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related science discipline
  • Experience with OPC, CAD tools, GDS/OAS mask files, and layout viewing tools such as K2View or DF2 databases.
  • Familiarity with Linux environments and programming languages such as Python or Perl.
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams, particularly across the United States and Japan.
  • Ability to demonstrate Artificial Intelligence into daily work and basic knowledge of AI related tools and their application, such as Claude.
