About the Role
As a Match Operations Assistant, you will be responsible for setting up and operating our cutting-edge systems at football stadiums throughout Europe for various prestigious competitions, including the 1.HNL, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and International European Qualification matches.
We will provide you with full technical training, support, and direct exposure to our technology to perform your match-day tasks. This role is a fantastic gateway to encourage your professional development and career progression within Hawk-Eye Innovations.
Key Responsibilities
Match Operations Assistants manage a variety of critical technical tasks on a match day, depending on the specific role assigned. Your duties will include:
Technical Setup: Setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting stadium communication systems.
Official Support: Working directly with the Referee Review Area Monitor (RRA) to support match officials.
Pre-Match Integrity: Conducting thorough pre-match checks and liaising closely with stadium personnel and officials.
Live System Operations: Monitoring and operating technical systems seamlessly throughout the live match.
Logistics Coordination: Managing equipment and coordinating logistics for travelling between stadium locations.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Essentials:
Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Proactive, responsible attitude, able to work independently with minimal supervision
Time management skills and ability to work under pressure in a live broadcast environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, proficient in English
Flexibility in adapting to irregular working hours
Desirables:
Technical background, ideally in IT or Broadcast
Interest in sports, especially football
Experience with VT/replay technology or live event/technical production
Willingness to travel locally and, if required, further afield in Europe
Driving licence
What Does A Typical Day Look Like?
For a typical kick off you can expect our call time to be 5 to 6 hours prior to the start of the match. Throughout the day you will be faced with several hard deadlines in which you will have to meet in order for the service to run effectively and efficiently.
Your day will generally span three main phases:
Pre-Match Calibration & Tech Setup: Spend the first part of your day testing communications, calibrating equipment, and optimising the setup. You will ensure the entire system is fully prepped and ready 2 hours prior to kick-off for the match officials to test its integrity.
The Warm-Up Phase: Utilise the teams' warm-up period as your final opportunity to conduct thorough live checks, ensuring the system and all comms are 100% functional before going live.
Live Match Operations: Monitor the system and communications in real-time throughout the live match, ensuring seamless connectivity, high efficiency, and instant troubleshooting if any issues arise.

Flexible Working Hours: Due to the nature of the sports industry, there is often work on weekends and midweek evenings, and we are expected to fulfil our roles until the last kick.
