As a VAR Replay Operator, you'll be at the heart of the action in the 1.HNL. You will work with our specialised Hawk-Eye SMART Replay systems, giving you elite-level exposure to live broadcast workflows and sports technology. As part of this team, you will ensure that the story of every VAR decision is delivered accurately, smoothly, and instantly to millions of football fans worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on the match-day schedule, your responsibilities will include:
VARdict Graphics Operation: Triggering and managing real-time data graphics to explain active VAR reviews to broadcasters and in-stadium audiences.
Operator Support: Working alongside the Lead Replay Operator to provide immediate, seamless access to the most relevant camera angles.
Incident Logging & Archiving: Efficiently capturing, timestamping, and archiving key match incidents (goals, penalties, offsides, red cards) for rapid retrieval.
Stakeholder Liaison: Remotely communicating with officials, stadium staff, and broadcast production teams during live windows to maintain pristine operational standards.

Football Knowledge: A deep, extensive understanding of football and the Laws of the Game.
Technical Foundation: Quick to learn specialized software with an interest in data accuracy, video formats, or PC networking.

Sharp Communication: Fluent in English with the clarity and professionalism needed to interact with high-profile clients and officials.

What Does A Typical Day Look Like?
For a typical kick off you can expect our call time to be 5 to 6 hours prior to the start of the match. Throughout the day you will be faced with several hard deadlines in which you will have to meet in order for the service to run effectively and efficiently.
Your day will generally span into these main phases:
Pre-Match Preparation: Plan and manage pre-match activities in the days leading up to games.
Technology Setup: Set up our cutting-edge Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology at the stadiums.
System Checks: Conduct thorough pre-match system checks to ensure everything runs efficiently.
Match-Day Operations: Work directly with match officials, providing crucial replays and optimal camera angles in real-time.
Performance Monitoring: Keep a close eye on hardware and software, troubleshooting any issues that arise.
Post-Match Reporting: Complete detailed reports to enhance future operations and client satisfaction.
What Challenges Might I Face?
While this role is incredibly exciting and puts you at the cutting edge of elite sport, you should consider the following operational demands before applying:
Irregular Working Hours: Due to the nature of the sports industry, there is often work on weekends and midweek evenings, and we are expected to fulfil our roles until the last kick.
Travel Requirements in Croatia: The VAR Replay Operator role requires driving the VAR Van to and from stadiums throughout Croatia.
Travelling Abroad: As the role progresses, there will be travel to various countries, mainly in Europe, for UEFA-based competitions. There could be further travel to other tournaments throughout the year.
High-Pressure Situations: Working in a live broadcast environment on a production that is distributed globally and widely seen by many will bring levels of pressure.
All of these different factors offer different challenges daily as an operator. We will do everything we can to train you and support you to the best possible level, but these factors should be considered before submitting your application.
