About the role As a founding engineer, you’ll bring our MVP product to maturity and help define the technical architecture of a new category of software.You will work on frontier engineering and design questions about how to best marry code and intelligence. You’ll create the blueprint for answering questions through custom software.You will interface directly with early customers as we answer these foundational questions.You’ll enjoy working with us if you care about craft, want to learn from high-performing, intellectually curious customers, and are excited by the idea of defining the shape of a new category of software. What you’ll do Design and build the agent scaffolding — the planning logic, tool integrations, memory systems, and feedback loops that enable Village's agents to reliably build and maintain research software Solve open design problems around provenance, assumption tracking, and observability — making complex agent-built systems legible and trustworthy for users who don't write code Work directly with customers to deploy the platform, understand their hypotheses, and translate what you learn into platform improvements Shape technical strategy and architecture as the first engineer — you'll have a seat at every major technical and product decision Help build and eventually lead the engineering team as we grow You may be a fit if Proficiency in building production systems end-to-end Proficiency in Python, React, and SQL Experience building applications with LLMs — prompt design, context management, designing tools that agents can use effectively Data engineering or data science background — our monitors are data pipelines and the agent needs to think like a data scientist Background in financial services a plus AI native Apply for this role Name* Email* Resume Upload resume PDF, DOC, or DOCX LinkedIn URL GitHub Profile Will you now or in the future require visa sponsorship to work in the country where this position is located?* Yes No Submit application -> Application submitted successfully.
