Introduction to the Team:
Business Continuity team is tasked with ensuring EG's services and applications are highly available and resilient to any disruptions. We monitor the services' compliance to their Disaster Recovery plans and conduct simulated Disaster Recovery tests to verify, validate and improve their RTO/RPO standards. We are building world class products to innovate and enhance applications' recovery capabilities by putting the customer first, creating capabilities and experiences that can be shared and presented to the customer that meet the travelers’ expectations in locally relevant ways and adhere to regulatory norms.
In this role, you will:
Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, resilient, and secure cloud-native software services and platform components that power Expedia Group products and engineering teams.
Collaborate with product managers, architects, SREs, and other engineers to translate business and platform requirements into robust cloud system designs, including low-level design (LLD), API design, infrastructure interfaces, and data models for service-oriented or microservices architectures.
Lead the implementation of cloud infrastructure abstractions, developer platforms, and automation tooling, writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, along with comprehensive automated tests that improve reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
Drive technical discussions, design reviews, and code reviews across multiple services or domains, identifying opportunities to simplify cloud architectures, reduce technical debt, and improve performance, cost efficiency, security, and quality.
Own the end-to-end lifecycle of cloud services and shared platforms, including provisioning, deployment, monitoring, incident response, capacity planning, and continuous improvement, and safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes.
Work across different parts of the stack and adjacent technical domains (infrastructure, platform, and application services), demonstrating familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products, while enabling fungible solutions that can be reused by multiple teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.
5+ years of relevant professional experience.
Proven experience designing and owning cloud-native services or platform components end-to-end (from design and implementation through testing, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of production issues) within a service-oriented or microservices environment.
Hands-on proficiency in at least one modern programming language and its ecosystem, with demonstrated experience in system design (LLD), API design, and data modeling for cloud-hosted, service-oriented architectures, including secure coding and secure cloud configuration practices.
Solid understanding of core computer science and engineering fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, distributed systems concepts, reliability and scalability patterns, and core cloud platform services (for example, compute, storage, networking, and identity).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience designing and implementing highly available, fault-tolerant, and high-throughput cloud services and platforms, including well-structured APIs, data models, and infrastructure patterns that are consumed by multiple teams or domains.
Demonstrated track record of driving operational excellence for cloud systems through metrics, observability, automation, and robust operational practices (for example, infrastructure-as-code, continuous delivery, progressive rollouts, and automated recovery).
Background building or integrating cloud platforms and shared services that abstract underlying infrastructure (for example, deployment platforms, configuration systems, or internal developer platforms), including safely integrating and operating AI/ML‑enabled solutions that enhance developer productivity, reliability, or customer outcomes.
Experience working across multiple technical domains (for example, application services, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and security), adapting quickly to new frameworks, cloud services, and AI-driven tooling, and using data to guide architectural and operational decisions.
Ability to lead and influence technical designs for cloud architectures within a team or product area, mentoring other engineers, setting engineering standards and patterns for cloud systems (including responsible and efficient use of AI/ML in cloud platforms), and driving consensus on complex technical decisions.
