Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Security Officer, you will maintain the highest level of safety and security by patrolling assigned areas, diligently deterring, detecting, and investigating suspicious activity or crime.Every day you will effectively monitor electronic surveillance equipment and hospital emergency systems, dispatch appropriate personnel via radio, and actively patrol to protect individuals and property, all while embodying our core values and supporting strategic quality improvement.To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate exceptional vigilance, strong observational skills, proficiency in electronic surveillance and dispatch systems, and a commitment to protecting our community while upholding our organizational values and contributing to a secure environment.
  • Works independently with little or no supervision.
  • Greets, directs and communicates with patients and visitors as they enter Mercy Medical Center for services.
  • Interacts with all Mercy departments to assist patients/customers.
  • Provides information to staff, visitors, and patients, giving directions to specific locations within the hospital or Mercy campus, and by giving general information regarding rules, regulations, etc.
  • Responds to emergency situations related to combative or violent people that are endangering themselves or others.
  • Evaluates situations and uses de-escalation skills to resolve situations.

Job Requirements

Required
  • High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or
  • High School GED General Studies, upon hire and
  • Unarmed Professional: OR, within 30 Days and
  • Driver's License: OR, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 30 Days and
  • First Aid, within 30 Days
Preferred
  • College level coursework in professionally related fields and One year of experience in law enforcement or as a security officer, upon hire and
  • Healthcare security experience
