Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Mission Systems' Engineering & Science (E&S) Baltimore and Partnered Sites (BaPs) division is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager 1 (Front-Line Manager). This position is full-time on-site at our Baltimore, MD location.As an integral part of our Engineering & Sciences leadership team you will support the Systems Integration Test & Evaluation (SIT&E) department within the Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) discipline homeroom. This is a dual-role manager position, and you will provide both engineering functional leadership and technical project execution leadership while overseeing approximately 8-12 engineers and will report directly to a Systems Engineering Manager 3. Individuals on the team work across several Baltimore, MD based programs. The position would functionally lead a team of engineers and Subject Matter Experts in the area of Systems Integration & Test.In this Systems Engineering Manager 1 role, you will also be expected to perform productive (direct charge) work on programs in addition to functional management duties. It is anticipated that given the size of this team, the candidate will spend ~80% of their time on programs in a technical/leadership role, and ~20% of their time in the functional role.  This leader must be able to create a culture of well-being, inclusion and engagement that attracts, retains, and enables a high performing workforce.Functional Roles & Responsibilities:Perform organizational overhead functions – support day‑to‑day administrative and operational processes, hold one-on-one meetings with team members to discuss performance/goals, participate in compensation reviews, evaluate readiness for promotion of direct reports, and support hiring initiatives.Collaborate with peer managers and section managers to achieve departmental and engineering departmental goals. Interact with execution and program counterparts to coordinate staffing and program support (e.g. proposal reviews, design reviews, customer meetings, etc.)Provide guidance, direction, and performance feedback to a diverse cross functional group of engineers.Coach and develop staff by providing an environment that encourages ongoing professional growth. Ensure staff receives the appropriate training and skill development opportunities to be successful in their roles.Manage workload forecasting including hiring and developing new engineering talent.Prepare, manage, and conduct Quarterly Connections.Support the management of the department budget and support compensation planning.Program Roles & Responsibilities:Manage engineering support to programs.Perform productive work on programs which could include specific engineering tasking related to your subject matter expertise, Integrated Product Team (IPT) leadership, and Cost Account Management (CAM) support.Support writing technical specifications, Statements of Work (SOWs), design reviews (e.g. SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, TRR, TIMs, etc.) and...
