Security Systems Program Manager

The Security Systems Program Manager is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise-wide physical security systems across the organization. This includes end-to-end delivery of enterprise scale physical security systems including lifecycle management and continuous improvement across corporate offices and data centre environments. This role ensures security technologies, infrastructure, and standards are aligned with organizational risk strategies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. The manager oversees system architecture, vendor partnerships, and continuous improvement of security solutions. This role supports security operations from technology research to system design and layout, oversight of construction and implementation, as well as ongoing operations, maintenance and upgrades over the life of the system.

Requirements

Desired Skills, Qualifications and Competencies include:

• In-depth knowledge of physical security operations, including video surveillance, intrusion detection, and access control systems.
• Experience managing program-level budgets, financials, and resource forecasting.
• Experienced in vendor management and procurement processes including the establishment of key performance indicators and service level agreements.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects and adapt to and control change on a project.
• Experience securing classified, research, or highly regulated environments, including government facilities, critical infrastructure environments, and HPC data centres.
• Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as DoD, NIST, ISO 27001/27002, NERC CIP, and/or CMMC.
• Strong incident management, crisis communication, and investigation skills.
• Strong proficiency in enterprise security operations and integrated security technology solutions, including enterprise-level platforms such as Genetec, LenelS2, and Avigilon systems.
• Able to learn new software applications/programs quickly and effectively.
• Certifications preferred: CPP (ASIS Certified Protection Professional), PSP (Physical Security Professional), CISM, or CPTED.
• Post-secondary education in a relevant practice (security systems technology and/or physical security), business, technology, engineering or related discipline.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, and basic project or inventory management tools.
• Familiarity with JIRA or similar ticketing/workflow management systems.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple requests and priorities in fast paced environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate effectively with vendors and internal teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Minimum Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience leading enterprise physical security systems and technology across large scale organizations.
• 3+ years working in Project Management related to physical security systems and technology.
• Experience working with enterprise access control platforms such as Avigilon Alta, LenelS2, Genetec, CCURE, or similar platforms preferred.
• Experience supporting compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, NERC CIP, or similar.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and reporting tools.
• A clear Criminal Record Check is required.
• May require after hours support for urgent access related issues, audits, or security incidents.
• Must be willing to travel 25% of the time as required to visit regional sites and new locations.

Responsibilities

The Security Systems Program Manager will focus on the following as well as other job-related duties and/or projects as assigned.

• Oversees the operation and system health for enterprise scale electronic security systems across IREN sites, including CCTV, VMS, access control, intrusion detection, alarms, and related infrastructure.
• Oversees and manages the installation, operation and maintenance of organizations physical security systems, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Acts as Project Manager and provides technical leadership for large-scale physical security engineering projects.
• Develops and maintain an integrated master program plan encompassing timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and budget tracking across all active workstreams and geographic deployment phases
• Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, with clear accountability at every level of execution.
• Oversees the coordination of security system design specifications and change management between internal teams and external vendor including engineers, construction managers, technicians, project managers, and senior leaders.
• Designs, develops, and implements solutions for system installations, upgrades, repairs and change outs.
• Conducts structured post-mortems and capture lessons learned to drive repeatable improvement across the program and the broader professional services organization.
• Maintains and updates the organization’s physical security design standards internal documentation and ensures all sites maintain adherence to global design standards ensuring standardization, compliance and conformance across the enterprise.
• Oversees and manages a team of physical security systems technicians establishing consistent delivery standards, performance, accountability structures and coaching cadences.
• Oversees the preventative and corrective maintenance program to keep security systems operating reliably and to minimize downtime.
• Program, configure, and administer security platforms (e.g., access control databases, VMS configurations, alarm panels) including user/access changes, device additions, and system settings.
• Plan and execute system upgrades, firmware/software updates, expansions, and technology refresh initiatives, coordinating outages and change windows as required.
• Monitor system performance and device status; investigate alarms/events, diagnose faults, and drive issues to resolution (including escalation to vendors as needed).
• Coordinate with site operations, facilities, IT, networking and security stakeholders to ensure security systems meet operational requirements and are integrated with site processes.
• Maintain documentation (as-builts, device inventories, configurations, procedures) and support audits/inspections and internal reporting requirements related to security systems.
• Oversees and maintains the organizations physical security systems asset management database.
• Oversees associated vendors and service partners including governance of MSAs (service calls, preventative maintenance visits, quotes, and project execution), ensuring work meets scope, quality, and safety expectations.
• Lead and coordinate security system upgrades and new deployments, including project planning, scheduling, commissioning, and post-implementation verification.
• Conduct risk assessments and threat analyses, managing the vulnerability life-cycle from identification to remediation while developing and enforcing procedures to mitigate identified threats.
• Ensure program meets ISO 27001 and any other related compliance requirements. Builds and maintains audit-ready documentation and control evidence to support regulatory, customer, and partner diligence requests.
• Provides technical support during incidents and investigations, including reviewing video, access control events, and alarm history; support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Conduct technical site surveys, where necessary.
• Develop KPIs, metrics, and reporting dashboards to measure program effectiveness. Maintains living risk registers, issue logs, and mitigation plans as core program governance artifacts.
• Leads structured governance touchpoints including weekly status reviews, monthly program health reports, and quarterly executive briefings, ensuring clear, proactive communication on progress, risk, and decisions needed.
