The Opportunity We’re looking for a Staff Engineer to lead two critical, interconnected pillars: our external API data partnerships and our core platform foundation. As HData’s extensive regulatory data—spanning dockets, FERC filings, and rate cases—evolves into a sought-after standalone product, enterprise partners are leveraging our intelligence to build their own capabilities. Simultaneously, we are scaling from a single-product solution into a robust ecosystem of specialized applications, requiring a unified, high-performance infrastructure built to sustain long-term growth. Positioned at the nexus of engineering, data, and commercial strategy, you’ll collaborate with technical leads and external stakeholders to ensure HData’s data is programmable, scalable, and ready for our global partner network. Who You Are You’ll thrive here if you: Are energized by the combination of external-facing partnership work and internal infrastructure investment Think in systems: when you build something for one product, you're already designing it to serve the next one Can manage ambiguity and make defensible calls when there isn't a clear precedent to follow Communicate clearly at multiple altitudes - technical detail with developers, strategic context with leadership, integration constraints with partners Are comfortable with the pace and constraints of a growing company: limited resources, high stakes, decisions that matter What You'll Do API Partnerships & Data Productization Own the external API product roadmap, aligned to HData's internal data availability Define API contracts: entity taxonomy, identifier standards, payload structure, freshness guarantees, and provenance metadata Serve as the primary product point of contact with technology partners through design, implementation, and iteration Collaborate with legal and leadership on API usage terms, data licensing, and storage constraints Platform Foundation & Application Architecture Own the platform layer that powers both the core HData product and every application built on top of it Define the shared services, contracts, and architecture patterns - user identity, multi-tenancy, notifications, admin controls, cross-app...
