Summary:

Provides clinical assistance and support to the Radiology (X-ray/US/CT/MR/NM/IR) department by performing a variety of clinical and clerical support functions under the direct supervision of the Licensed Radiology Professional.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical, administrative, and patient support to ensure efficient Radiology department operations.

  • Review imaging orders, scheduled procedures, and patient records to verify required documentation, pre-procedure laboratory results, allergies, implants, and other exam prerequisites are complete and available for technologist review.

  • Schedule, reschedule, and coordinate diagnostic imaging procedures; communicate preparation instructions and document all required patient information in the electronic medical record.

  • Utilize Epic, RIS, PACS, and other departmental systems to accurately enter, access, maintain, and distribute patient and imaging information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

  • Serve as a communication liaison between patients, imaging technologists, radiologists, referring providers, and other healthcare team members; answer telephone calls promptly, relay messages, and coordinate follow-up as needed.

  • Assist patients with registration documents, exam preparation, wayfinding, changing attire, and access to examination and waiting areas.

  • Transport patients safely within the department and between clinical care areas as required.

  • Assist with retrieval, transfer, and distribution of imaging records and images through PACS and related systems.

  • Prepare, clean, disinfect, and maintain examination rooms, holding bays, waiting areas, equipment, supplies, and accessories to support patient safety and operational readiness.

  • Maintain adequate inventory levels of departmental supplies and notify appropriate personnel of replenishment needs.

  • Adhere to departmental policies, quality assurance standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in staff meetings, educational programs, training activities, and professional development opportunities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, or GED equivalent.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

  • Actively enrolled as a student in an accredited Radiologic Technology program in preparation of registry (ARRT/ARDMS).
