Job DescriptionWork with engineers, technologists and trades people to help our clients succeed in the construction of critical oil and gas infrastructure projectsInterpret regulatory and statutory requirements, codes and customer specifications relating to fabrication, welding and materials.Monitor welding parameters, and write procedure qualification records and welding procedure specifications under the direction of the Welding Services Supervisor.Prepare in-house work orders that communicate testing requirements to other departments and maintain traceability of samples and associated documentation under the direction of the Welding Services Supervisor.Interpret laboratory test report results under the direction of the Welding Services Supervisor.Conduct welder performance qualification testing under the supervision of the Welding Services Supervisor.Assist clients with the implementation welding processes and technologiesPerform routine maintenance on various welding machines and general shop upkeepKeep a clean working environment;Work in compliance with safety regulations. Participate in quality improvement and cost reduction efforts.May be assigned and coordinate special or ad hoc projects as needed.QualificationsEducation and Experience:Post-secondary education in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology or Manufacturing Engineering Technology Program (three-year program) is requiredWelding Examiner Certificate of Competency issued by ABSA is an assetCSA W178.2 Level 1 Welding Inspector Certificate of Compliance is an asset.Must be eligible to register for T.T., C.E.T., or E.I.T. status Valid Class 5 driver's license.(I.W.T. also acceptable with the approval of the Welding Services Supervisor)Specific technical skills:Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.Candidates must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).Proven ability to manage, coordinate and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, high pressure, highly professional environment in order to meet tight deadlines.Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.Ability to work well with others & independently.Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.Works well under pressure.Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.Travel to other SGS locations or client location may be required from time to time.Ensures full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.Must demonstrate a strong working knowledge of ASME Section IX, Section VIII Div. 1, B31.1, B31.3, and CSA Z662Familiarity with development of Quality Management Systems for piping and pressure vessel construction and manufacturing is an asset.Familiarity with API, NACE and AWS codes and standards would be an assetAbility to compose clear and concise technical reports with attention to detail.Superior organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
