As the Quality Manager, you will be the quality leader for PPG's Delaware OEM manufacturing facility. You will establish a world-class Quality Management System (QMS). This system ensures compliance with customer requirements, automotive industry standards, and PPG Global Quality standards. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will lead quality assurance and quality control for all processes at the manufacturing site and work with remote location(s).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and improve the site's Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, customer requirements, and PPG global standards.
- Champion a culture of quality across the organization through leadership, communication, awareness, and employee engagement programs.
- Partner with site leadership to establish quality goals, Indicators, and improvement strategies that drive operational excellence.
- Lead Quality Control operations, including laboratory management, testing, inspection, calibration, process verification, and material release activities.
- Ensure incoming, in-process, and final product quality controls meet customer and product requirements.
- Develop monitoring systems, measurement processes, and rapid-response mechanisms for quality deviations and nonconforming materials.
- Lead internal audit and layered process audit programs to ensure compliance, product conformity, and continuous improvement.
- Improve customer quality performance by leading complaint resolution, root cause investigations, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
- Establish and manage change control processes for quality-related system, process, and product changes.
- Monitor QMS performance metrics, analyze quality trends, and communicate risks, opportunities, and improvement actions to site leadership.
- Support new product launches and scale-up activities to ensure process capability and product quality from first production lots.
- Lead quality training, talent development, and capability-building programs across the organization.
- Partner with regional quality teams to develop dashboards and reporting that inform fact-based decision-making.
- Be a member of the Site Leadership Team and participate in the PPG Regional Quality Leadership Network.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in Quality, Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing customer complaints, including containment actions, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Certified IATF 16949 Lead Auditor required; VDA 6.3 Auditor certification
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher
