Communications Insight Analyst

Role Overview
Within Global Content Communications, the Communication Insights Analyst will help shape how PlayStation understands social performance, social audience conversation trends, sentiment across community members and press, and the impact of company communications from a media perspective, from community to brand to product and corporate.
This role will blend deep hands-on analysis with strategic partnership, helping teams move from raw information to clear, actionable insights.
From ongoing social listening to campaign dashboards and reporting, this position will support how Global Content Communications interprets audience response, measures communications effectiveness, and identifies opportunities to optimize strategy. The ideal candidate brings a strong analytical foundation, sharp judgment, and the ability to translate and visualize complex, nuanced data into pivotal recommendations that are useful across a fast-moving communications organization.
This role will sit within the social media team and partner closely with PR and PlayStation Studios, while also collaborating with cross-functional teams across marketing, analytics, regional teams, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead owned social performance reporting for SIE business priority content across PlayStation channels. This includes but is not limited to campaign, recurring, ad-hoc reports and for internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct social listening/ and sentiment analysis across different audiences, helping teams understand how PlayStation is being discussed in real time and over time.
- Define and refine key business metrics and reporting frameworks, build analytical models, and generate predictive insights to support business strategies.
- Analyze large, complex datasets (social, sentiment, web, and communications) to uncover meaningful patterns, emerging themes, risks, and opportunities that can inform strategy.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across business units to understand needs, deliver data-driven recommendations, and implement solutions.
- Support recurring and ad hoc reporting across a range of communications metrics, including social performance, conversation trends, campaign and launch impact, and media coverage.
- Translate quantitative and qualitative data, often addressing broad or ambiguous questions into clear narratives for stakeholders, including executive-ready summaries, dashboards, presentations, etc., and reports.
- Help identify and refine AI-assisted workflows that improve reporting efficiency and insight development, while applying strong judgment and validation to outputs.
- Partner closely with PR, PlayStation Studios, Consumer Insights, Marketing, and the broader Global Communications organization to support planning, measurement, and post-mortem learning.
- Stay deeply attuned to the gaming landscape, audience behavior, platform trends, and cultural context that shape how players respond to PlayStation news and content.
What We’re Looking For
- 5–7 years of experience in data analytics, audience insights, communications measurement, social intelligence, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, or a related field preferred; advanced degree is a plus. Equivalent experience is highly valued.
- Proven ability to analyze large, nuanced datasets, and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data for business decision-making via automated and manual methodologies.
- Proficiency in analytics and data visualization/storytelling (including tools like SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly and persuasively to a range of audiences (including non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership).
- Advanced expertise in social media analytics platforms (e.g. Emplifi, Sprinklr, Sprout, etc.) and social listening tools (e.g. NetBase, Meltwater, Brandwatch, etc.), and experience working with unstructured social conversation data.
- Advanced problem-solving, statistical, and creative thinking capabilities.
- Strong Excel skills and a demonstrated ability to work through large, messy, or nuanced datasets with rigor and precision.
- Experience using AI tools to improve analysis and reporting workflows, with a thoughtful approach to validating outputs and protecting quality.
- Familiarity with ethical data handling, privacy policies, and compliance in social listening and conversational analytics.
- Experience measuring communications impact across social and earned channels, including sentiment, conversation analysis, media coverage, and campaign or launch reporting.
- Comfort working in a highly collaborative environment with multiple internal stakeholders and shifting priorities.
- Strong familiarity with console and/or PC gaming, gaming culture, and the broader interactive entertainment landscape. Prior experience in gaming or entertainment analytics is strongly preferred.
- Experience in entertainment, media, technology, or communications-focused analysis is an integral plus.
At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
