Senior Application Support Analyst

Job Description

What will you do?

• Day-to-Day Applications Support and production support investigations, troubleshooting systems for applications in scope, JCL and batch Jobs

• 24x7 Batch Support on rotation basis

• Managing and maintaining documentation for processes & procedures

• Ensuring the applications health and performance in production and lower environments

• Work closely with members of the development and QA teams to deploy change requests and enforcing production release best practices.

• Mitigate operational risks through ensuring tech currency, patching, vulnerability & security management and access controls are all regularly performed.

• Work with colleagues, other RBC IT teams, stakeholders and vendors to design and implement upstream and downstream interfaces to the applications.

• Perform change management activities such as source code management, creating activity records for production implementation and supporting implementations

• Adopt automation solutions for applications

• Assist in incident management and problem management for applications in scope

• Collaborate with peers to develop code in line with strategic initiatives, as well as develop, troubleshoot, enhance, and document components, as per the requirements and detailed design

Must-have

• Great expertise with main industry databases (SQL server, MongoDB, etc)

• Expert knowledge and relevant experience of .NET, Java script, SQL queries and scripting

• Very strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset

• Knowledge of log investigations using Kibana

• Experience with Windows servers, IIS Web servers, Linux server, cloud applications and SQL Servers

Nice-to-have

• knowledge or relevant experience of Node.JS, Powershell, Java, Python

• Knowledge or relevant experience working with Openshift, Azure, IBM Urban Code Deploy, Ansible, Elastic, Jenkins, SIFT, Confluence, Jira, ServiceNow, Dynatrace, Moogsoft and PagerDuty

• Understanding of the software development process and experience with the AGILE Methodology (i.e. Scrums, Sprints, Retrospectives, etc)

• Understanding of Risk and Finance business needs and reporting expectations
