Assistant Project Manager – K0222

Primary Function

The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Management team in managing the full life cycle of design engineering or engineering/construction projects. This includes activities related to project planning, scope, schedule, cost, cash flow, quality, communications, resources, procurement, profit/loss, corrective actions, and risk elements required to optimize client service, quality, and fiscal responsibility. The Assistant Project Manager’s overall objective is to assist the PM in delivering value to our clients and to Ardurra, maintaining a positive client relationship, leading the project team, and achieving or exceeding the estimated profit margin for the phases and tasks of the project.

Primary Duties

Supports the PM with executing the following:

• Planning and Scheduling

o Developing project plans and schedules, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation

o Tracking progress against the plan and identifying any potential delays early on

o Updating and maintaining project schedules and budgets using project management software

o Managing project documents and maintaining an organized filing system

o Ensuring Quality Control reviews are completed at proper milestones

• Cost Management and Budgeting

o Tasks related to project budgeting and cost control, including creating estimates, tracking expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities

o Uses Earned Value Management (EVM) to execute, manage and control project phases and tasks

• Communication and Coordination

o Facilitating project communication by scheduling meetings, taking notes, and sharing updated information with the project team

o Preparing and distributing project reports and status updates to keep stakeholders informed

o Maintains a continuing business relationship with clients as part of ongoing business development efforts

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Skilled in managing detailed schedules and resource plans with minimal oversight; ensures documentation and quality reviews meet organizational standards.

• Able to oversee budget tracking and skillfully apply EVM to evaluate performance; able to identify and recommend cost-saving opportunities.

• Skilled in preparing polished reports and project updates; and able to maintain strong client relationships and facilitate effective team coordination.

• Knowledge of accountability and delegation best practices, with the ability to take ownership, hold others responsible, provide constructive feedback, and effectively assign tasks while supporting and tracking delegated work.

• Skilled in collaboration and conflict management, with the ability to build strong partnerships across teams, navigate opposing viewpoints, engage in productive conflict, and mediate disputes with fairness and composure.

• Strong problem-solving and innovative thinking abilities, with the capacity to analyze complex issues, uncover root causes, develop creative solutions, and challenge conventional approaches to drive improvement and effective outcomes.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program preferred

• 4-6 years’ relevant experience in engineering and/or field construction

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Excellent problem-solving skills
