The American Express Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) function provides second-line policy, framework, oversight and control solutions to meet the Company’s legal, regulatory and risk management mandates in connection with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Terrorism Financing (CTF), Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).  The GFCC portfolio comprises all aspects of the Company’s first and second-line financial crime risk management (FCRM) activities, including all lines of businesses in the United States and both proprietary and non-proprietary global markets.

Reporting to the Director, GFCC Training, the Skills & Training Assessment Manager will lead the development and oversight of skills evaluation frameworks for the financial crimes training programs across the enterprise. This role is responsible for establishing assessment methodologies and ensuring training meet the knowledge and competency requirements related to AML, Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption.

The position partners closely with Financial Crimes subject matter experts, the GFCC Training Program team, and Global Regulatory Learning (GRL) stakeholders to ensure training assessments align with internal policies and evolving financial crime risks.

The position requires strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and an understanding of financial crimes risk management.

Training Assessment & Evaluation:

Program Support:

  • Oversee the implementation of training assessments across the Financial Crimes Training programs.
  • Partner with Learning & Development teams to ensure training programs effectively address operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of the GFCC Training Program.
  • Collaborate with training designers and SMEs to align assessments with regulatory expectations and business needs.
  • Ensure assessment methodologies measure practical application of financial crimes concepts.

 

Risk & Compliance Alignment:

  • Ensure assessment standards support regulatory compliance requirements and internal policy expectations.
  • Maintain documentation supporting training governance and audit readiness.
  • Partner with GFCC stakeholders to address remediation needs identified through assessment results.

 

Continuous Improvement:

  • Recommend improvements to training delivery, testing strategies, and learning pathways.
  • Support periodic review and updates to training curricula based on emerging financial crimes risks, regulatory changes, and internal findings.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Significant experience in financial crimes compliance training programs.
  • Demonstrated experience leading training programs, skills assessment frameworks, or workforce capability initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
