Position Purpose:

The Sr. Director, Marketing Customer Intelligence is the enterprise architect of how we value our customers, marketing efforts, and our media. This leader will build and lead a Center of Excellence responsible for the unified measurement of Retail Media, Core Marketing, Customer Insights, Data Governance & Privacy, and Behavioral Analytics.

This role will lead a team of technical analysts and strategists to bridge the gap between complex data science and executive action, driving a consistent "source of truth" to drive decisioning across Marketing, Merchandising, and Operations. This role will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver best-in-class solutions and is accountable for defining and executing a vision that enhances data-driven decision-making. This leader demonstrates a strong ability to devise effective solutions within matrixed environments, seamlessly moving from data analytics to insights to action.


Key Responsibilities:

  • 40% - Drives Vision and Purpose – Own the vision and roadmap for Customer Data Governance, Retail Media Measurement, and Customer Insights across the organization, identifying the near- and long-term implications for measurement solution design, data governance, technology, and ways of working.
    • Unified Measurement Framework: Own the vision for a holistic measurement ecosystem that bridges the gap between high-attribution Retail Media and long-term Core Marketing health. Drive the adoption of industry-leading measurement solutions, maintain the accuracy and integrity of performance media measurement, and be involved in various data science projects intended to measure the impact of the main marketing levers on the performance of advertisers.
    • Behavioral Analytics & Insights: Drive the roadmap for behavioral analytics (e.g., LTV modeling, churn propensity, and path-to-purchase friction) to move the org from "what happened" to "why it happened."
    • Next-Gen Methodologies: Lead the transition to privacy-safe measurement solutions, including the use of Data Clean Rooms, advanced MMM (Marketing Mix Modeling), and Incrementality Testing
  • 20% - Drives Results – Steer decisions around methodology to ensure that measurement solutions and data governance policies across the organization adhere to rigorous standards, driving consistency across functions. Move beyond data analytics to provide actionable customer insights that guide executive decision-making.
    • Privacy: Partner with Legal/IT to ensure customer data collection and usage for analytics meet evolving global privacy standards while maximizing data utility.
    • Data Stewardship: Define and enforce enterprise-wide standards for customer data hygiene, identity resolution, and taxonomy to ensure "one version of the truth."
    • Ethics in AI: Oversee the ethical application of behavioral analytics and predictive modeling within Marketing
  • 15% - Builds Effective Teams – Develop a team that will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure that measurement and insights solutions are being carried out in keeping with the larger vision, and to bridge the gap between analytical capabilities and stakeholder needs. Foster a culture of intellectual curiosity where team members are encouraged to challenge existing attribution practices and experiment with new analytical models.
  • 25% - Cross Functional Collaboration – Partner closely with Data Science & Analytics to prioritize stakeholder requirements for dashboard / BI tools and ensure data governance standards are met. Collaborate with peers across functions and departments to understand their needs, diagnose gaps within current solutions, and generate buy-in on improvements that will drive meaningful stakeholder value.
    • Executive Translation: Synthesize complex analytical outputs into high-impact narratives for internal leadership and supplier partners.
    • Stakeholder Synergy: Partner with Product and Engineering to prioritize any technical needs required for real-time dashboards and BI tools.
    • Adoption Leadership: Drive the cultural shift toward data-driven decision-making, ensuring Marketing, Merchandising and Ops teams are using measurement frameworks to optimize their specific P&Ls


Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

  • This Position typically reports to a Vice President
  • This Position typically has 3 to 5 direct reports

Travel Requirements:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in analytics, statistics, industrial engineering, or marketing (Master's preferred).
  • 10+ years relevant experience in marketing / media, including at least 4+ years in roles focused on measurement, data governance, and customer analytics.
  • 5+ years leading and motivating teams.
  • Background in Retail Media Measurement and full-funnel marketing measurement, including direct experience building out media measurement frameworks. Experience covering retail and brand marketing measurement preferred.
  • Proven experience developing & leading enterprise roadmaps for data-driven analytics, customer data governance, & marketing measurement, preferably over 2+ years.
  • Experience with using MMM / MTA to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Direct experience with 1 or more tools / solutions for cross-channel multi-touch attribution analysis required.
  • Expertise in experimental design, learning agenda development, and best practices.
  • High level of comfort with the marketing technology / ad technology landscape, and how different tools interact to understand channel impact.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to triage needs across multiple stakeholders.
  • A proven leader and a self-starter who can independently lead both strategy and execution, gain internal consensus, and communicate effectively up and down in a cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • The ideal candidate will be an authority on not only measurement methodologies but also the technical and data infrastructure that powers them.
