As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you’ll dive deep into ground-breaking technologies—like machine learning and AI—to craft novel software solutions that solve our customers’ high-value problems. Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality. You'll develop software documentation and test procedures, troubleshoot software problems, and communicate with internal customers to understand project requirements. As part of our team, you'll contribute your expertise in intricate systems, deciphering code, and anticipating software behaviors to ensure Applied remains the leader in the semiconductor and display sectors.
Role Responsibilities:
Assist software related activities. e.g. preparation/verification/installation/upgrade
Training Customer to well understanding software functionality and feature
Troubleshooting, investigation, analysis and classification of complex software issues.
Review and understand complex software documentation.
Field expert on system software, focused on building customer satisfaction in APPLIED NEXX products
Work with service and process team for field issues to provide software solution.
Visit APPLIED NEXX customer sites to assist with software upgrades and machine troubleshooting. This will include customers in Asia, and Europe.
Provide real time support for field service engineers troubleshooting our distributed IO interfaces, including Modbus over Ethernet, EtherCat, and legacy serial devices.
Define software test plans for simulators.
Communicate with internal and external customers for requirement analysis, project schedule and software troubleshooting
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, computer science, information management, software/system engineering, Electrical, Electronic or mathematics.
3–7 years of related experience
Proficiency and experience in C/C++, .Net, C#, Operating Systems, Networking principles, Algorithms, Multi-threading, RPC
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in a related field
Strong knowledge of industry best practices, key business drivers, and how your area of expertise integrates with others
Leadership skills to lead small projects as needed
- Able to travel to customer site and support for software related activities.
- Able to apply a structured and logical approach to troubleshooting and problem solving with Customer and internally.
- Able to travel to other Asia region to support internationally.
- 3~5 year’s experience working in the semiconductor industry is plus.
- Familiarity with equipment control software testing and quality control is plus
- Knowledge of SEMI SECS/GEM communications standards is plus
- Good teamwork skills
